    Hi all,

I see the XPS (at least) has starting coming with an option for intels new draft n solution as well as the pro wireless. Wondering if anyone has any experience with this since its supposed to operate with increased range vs the pro wireless (which was my major gripe with the pro wireless).

Also is it even possible to buy one of these from Dell? Or from another manufacturer.. Dell's website doesnt list it as a component to buy, and I havent had much luck on google..

    Cheers.

You can buy a retail a/g/draft-N wireless card as well as PCMCIA adapters for notebooks.

It's probably best to wait and buy a PCMCIA adapter once the wireless N standard is finalized, if they change it and you get an internal draft-N you'll have to change it or have it changed later on.

Any linkage to retail internal draft n cards please?

Nothing with an atheros chipset though, Tried 3 with atheros chips and they all give hardware parity errors..

Dont mind changing it if N standard is different, its quite easy to switch out :)

    Thanks!

Very interested in buying an internal mini-pci draft-n wireless card now too for my e1705, but spent 2 days searching and can't find it anywhere. If anyone has any experiences, please share :)

    Thanks WackyT for the link!

OK, at the risk of sounding dumb, I know that there are Mini-PCI and Mini-PCIe, but how do I tell what do I have (Dell E1705)? And, will the one pointed by your link work with my Dell?

    Thanks!

You have Mini PCI Express, which is what this new card is. Should work fine. Read a post over on the other notebook forum with someone putting it into the E1705 successfully.

I wonder if this Intel 4965AGN would work with a XPS M1210 Laptop? I would rather have the Intel Pre-N card then the Dell (Broadcom) Pre-N Wireless card.

thanks for posting the link where this card can be purchased.

But if they're both based on Draft N 1.0, there should be no difference when used with Draft N routers and compatible chip (as long as the drivers are updated). I have the Dell wireless-N 1500 card in my XPS m1210 and paired it with a Netgear 834B Draft N router. Absolutely love it, get 270mbps consistant. When I run a Speedtest, it gets the same speed as my wired desktop PC.

Sorry to thread hijack here but..

I have the Intel ABGN Wireless card in my I6400 and I am unable to connect to my DLink DIR-625 N router at 'N' speeds. I can only connect to my Dlink via 'G' speeds (by disabling the N feature on the Intel card).

It is a very solid connection when using G only connection, but I'd like to take full advantage of the N connection. Is it possible to get the N connection between these 2?

    Specs are below.
