So I decided to order an Inspiron 1520 and have been waiting for it for a while. Ordered July 10.

However after checking my original order over, I noticed a couple things that I customized wrong. I had ordered the wrong LCD display and the wrong processor.

And just after I had realized that, I called Dell and told them to cancel my order... I then placed a new one with a T7300 C2D instead of a T5450 and a WXGA screen rather than XGA.

However since I cancelled the order on July 21, my original laptop got shipped anyway cuz I was too late cancelling the order. I just received the original order and had to send it back with the Purolator guy *sob* :( .

After this terrible experience I went online to see what I could do. I've heard of people getting next day shipping by talking to Dell Customer support about these laptops. I was wondering if anyone could confirm how they did this?

Next day shipping will not get you your laptop any faster and it will only wait your time .

Actually it does get your laptop to you faster, at least 2-3 days sooner than the regular shipping.

    So....

That's the easiest thing to get, the hardest thing is the laptop itself! ;)

Just ask for it. They will give it. It costs little to them.

I asked them, "How can I expediate my order? Next-day shipping? Can I buy that this late along?" and they said "I just did it for you for free."

    :)

The "OFFICIAL" Guide to Getting Next Day Shipping on your DELL

Step One: Call a Dell rep. and complain about how long your laptop is taking too build. Act mildly pissed (hint: you don't actually have to be angry at ALL :D )

Step Two: Act frustrated with the rep. Threaten to cancel your order.

    Step Three:
Sigh loudly into the phone. Tell the rep. you won't cancel your order if you can get free next-day shipping.

    Step Four:
Wait for your computer to stop being "Boxed" for the fifth day in a row so that it can finally be shipped to you.

In all seriousness, just ask... they'll probably give it to you.

lol! Thanks for the insights! It was my own fault that I screwed up the order the first time, but I see no harm in getting the laptop sooner rather than later by acting a little more upset than I am. :)

I had to cancel an order so I said since I had to cancel, I still wanted to get my different order soon before I had to leave on a "trip" and I got an expitided order and free overnight shipping. my estimated August 8th ship date was actually now shipped today and I'm expecting my lappy from fedex by 4:30 tomorrow
