I recently purchased a Dell B120 used in ebay. Laptop worked great on AC adapter, but battery showed 1% on battery indicator and would not work. I ordered a non-dell replacement from a company on ebay. Battery came in and had 94% when installed. Just to check I unplugged AC adapter. Laptop seems to work properly for the few seconds I checked. I then replaced AC adapter cord and allowed battery to charge overnight. Next morning I powered up laptop and checked battery power. Laptop showed 100%, so I pulled AC adapter plug. Boom, nothing, no power. I have tried everything to get this battery to work. Bios sees battery and shows no battery when removed. Bios we upgraded to latest dell upgrade A08. Battery info in bios says battery performing normal. shows 100% but no power.

I checked battery with MM and got 9volt, 9volts, 4 volts, 4volts on the 4 pins. Not sure what that means.

Anyone have any ideas or do I have a bad battery. LaptopZ doesn't seem to want to replace. wants me to discharge battery and recharge to reset, but I can't discharge if it won't work.

    Any ideas?

PS, this is a non-dell replacement

You need to return that battery, I don't think is good. I also ordered a battery from ebay, non-dell. and it works great, I don't have any problems with it, so more likely that battery is bad, you don't need to mess with bios or any settings. my dell is also a b120

Yes I would return to Laptopz - I assume this is an online store? If so, you normally have rights with regards to distance selling, and one of those rights is that the product must work as described and be suitable for purpose. Sorry that might seem vague, but the regulations are slightly different for each country.

Have a search for consumer rights in your country and then go back to laptopz. Don't play it too hard, but let them know you are aware of your rights. Do it via email too; that way if they do kick up stink you can take them to your govening body (for example in the UK that is Trading Standards, whom I recently introduced a retail store to).
