Everyone here is talking about how they got $150 - $250 credits or coupons. Not in Canada. They won't give you anything. Are we not customers too? My order is weeks late. I have called and chatted and they always say, "There is a delay on all systems and we (Dell) are not giving compensation or free overnight shipping to anyone. It is not an option at all." What is the deal? The standard 3-5 day shipping to Canada seems to be more like 10 from people I have talked to. I am not happy. I am leaving the country and I am paying for a computer that I will not be able to use. Or if I am able to use it I will have to pay hefty international shipping costs. Dell is horrible.

-
Yeah, that sucks. I guess they figure you should expect delays if you are ordering internationally. But since Canada is essentially the 51st state, I dont know why they shouldnt get the same deals.
Maybe they are still mad for you guys burning down the white house in 1814.
Seriously though, you guys should get just as much compensation. -
yup it seems we are second rate... We also have to pay alot more for the laptop even when the $1 US almost = $1 CDN now.
Basically Canada is getting screwed by all companies since they sell products to us, and see more profit since they sell it for more. In reality they should be lowering the price to slightly higer then the US, but thats not the case, and will probs never happen.
The dell customer service is poor, they would rather me cancle my order then to give up anything. -
We just addressed that one in another thread. There is plenty of room for comps in Canada; its just how it is approached.

I have tried many times but got nothing except "I CAN CANCLE YOUR ORDER IF YOU WOULD LIKE!"
thats means they don't care at all. -
Yes and with that approach I can see why. Werent you the one who went into shipping today??
-
Basically its a long messy story with dell at fault, but they did nothing to help me. I had to raise my credit limit to reorder the current laptop thats being shipped. -
Easy to get comp in your country .. You just are not doing it the right way
-
-
Your system is shipping less than 14 business days after you ordered and you complain about concessions? lol.
There are still many of us who rodered in late June and early July that still have yet to receive our system, several having had to endure several cancellations for no reason which we had to fight to have systems reordered....
Then comes the fight over the new ESD....
Fourteen days...I wish.

All i have got in terms of compensation is 75 bucks, and that is just to cover the difference in taxes it costs me to switch the mailing address cause im going off to college.

I already had 2 cancellations, and 1 returned laptop before i changed to the xps system.

Flamenko's not the only one. I was able to get concessions as well. As flamenko said, it's all about how you approach it. And for a 14 day wait time, well you can probably forget about getting comp for that.
-
Anyway, whats the reason for your comps? Like broken stuff for long waits? -
Reasons...
1. Cancellations;
2. New later order dates as a result of the cancellations;
3. Lack of reasons for the cancellations;
4. No notification of the cancellations resulting in difficult time reaffirming original price;
5. False promises while speaking to reps;
6. seeing other people like Hiredgoon get their system after 14 days where we still dont have an answer as to why we havent got our system yet.
The list goes on. It is almost like they took all the systems that had parts they were waiting for and put them aside while they push the new orders through... -
-
Not pinpointing you out personally but rather, as one of the many who ordered well after the original delayed crew and have already got their system on the way while we patiently wait.
-
My estimated ship date was sepetember 10th, but it seems a bunch of people who ordered from Ontario are going to get theres this week. -

Firstly, if you can read properly, you should have understood that WilsonJoseph is living in Canada but is leaving the country. He is not ordering internationally, he is ordering from Dell Canada. However, if he leaves the country and Dell hasn't shipped him his notebook yet, his relatives will be stuck with having to ship the computer to him when it arrives internationally. Because he's leaving before his notebook gets delivered to his Canadian address.
Secondly, perhaps Canada is not the 51st state. Perhaps USA is the 11th province. More like the left-over province that wasn't good enough to be granted free health care like all the others.
Thirdly, now that you mention it, it's too bad I wasn't around in 1814. I would've been in the mood to roast some marshmallows. -
LMAO....Guy from Montreal writing that!!! LMAO!!!
And its a compliment....Not often I hear someone from across the great Cdn/PQ border standing up for Canada. -
the best move for canadians is dictating to your rep what you want for free, from the beginning. meaning when you initially order your comp, try and get themost bang for your buck. then just wait and be content with your deal
-
Not sure that I agree with that...Many for some reason cannot get any breaks in their initial order. Its mainly because many dont CSR shop. I think its a smart move to ask for concessions when you have been put out.
And so does Dell by the way...or they would not grant them. Every CSR Rep knows exactly what they can grant. If it gets bumped up to a Spvr, they know what they can grant.
Its simply good business...for Dell and for you.
LOL --- Who am I to talk??? I havent SEEN a thing yet. Argggghhhhhhhh. -
hahahah ya, when i told them i was going to cancel they were going to give me 250$ for a 150$ mistake, the concession didnt make economic sense, so i just reordered with more stuff, and a more mad tone

Go Habs Go! -
ps: ya , the parti quebecois is over.... -

Let me educate you...the Montreal Canadians are owned by a US citizen. Their profits are deemed US revenue.
With respect to their being the greatest team, I must concede, there is NO OTHER hockey team that actually claimed a Stanley Cup because of lack of competition..look it up.
and living in the 60's... No... I live in a town that is 1/2 french and 1/2 italian...Us lil Ukes are squeezed in their somewhere.
I dont mean to get into samatics but Quebec still needs to realize, its a part of Canada. Canada its not part of Quebec. They need to change all their 'rues' to streets, not vice versa.
Likewise, I wish i lived in a province that paid me to have kids and remain their. I would love that!!!
Now we had our lil fun rant and all the Yankees are laughing their butts off so lets finish...
Dont want to get the post closed down
and yes die hard Leafs fan... -
And talking about the Habs... the Maple Leafs were part of the original six. So Montreal did have to battle Toronto for the cup. Oh but what am I saying?! The Toronto Maple Leafs is no competition for the Montreal Canadiens! You said so yourself!
Anyone want to talk about notebooks? -
LMAO....Only two Canadians would argue with one another although they agree...
-
-
No... there is a connection....
Was it not us (Toronto) who went and got a former cop from Montreal to coach??? When he then went to coach a US team, his LAPTOP was stolen and later recovered. It was only then that he couldnt account for some very prominent names within which were of the 'two wheel' orientation and residing in PQ. -
I'm from southern Ontario, but I'd cheer for the Habs over the Leafs any day of the week.
I love Québec and I'm glad the sovereignty movement's dieing down. I'd hate to have to get a visa just to visit...
Sooo.. my laptop should be shipping within a day or so. Yay. -

Cancel the damn order and be done with it. -
Everyone is allowed their rant...Look...Myself and HCW enjoyed it for 2 weeks.
Canada is prime for comp's and breaks though. I can say this through my personal situation as well as having exchanged PM's with others who have experienced similar in Canada.
I still believe its how you approach it right from the start.
Politely say..."This has been a hard process. Can you comp me up to Vista Ultimate/Complete Care/etc?" I can assure you that several have gotten these upgrades..
Myself, why do I want a monetary discount which takes away from Dell when they can up me...say Vista Ultimate which is nothing to them. Its the same with Warranty upgrades. They cost zip to them. -
-
You know what the best compensation would be? And I'm talking good for both sides, the customer and Dell. The best compensation would be friendly and honest service. It would cost Dell $0.00 to offer it and it would make customers happy.
For example, don't sound like you're so annoyed that you are about to slit your wrists when we call you. Also, tell us honestly what is delaying the orders, and not just, "Oh, I'm not allowed to tell you. Oops, I mean they don't tell me." Tell us straight up how long the order is going to take to process and tell us why. And apologize for the delays as if you mean it, not like, "You're so impatient. Two months is not a long time to wait for something you paid close to $2000.00 for."
Friendly and honest service would have customers coming back.
