    Hi,

My sister placed an order for a Dell Latitude D610 around 4pm today (Sunday) on Dell.ca . She still hasn't received any kind of confirmation e-mail and the order does not appear under her Dell account.

Is this unusual or is it normal ('cause of weekend, processing delays, etc)?

    Thanks,

    Vlad

sounds a little unusual. has she had problems before w/ spam/virus filters filtering out legit mail?

might be worth giving them a call.

As far as I know, all spam is marked as such and still delivered by my ISP. The interesting thing is that it doesn't appear in the online account either so I would guess the problem is probably on Dell's side.

We're a little hesitant to call Dell's tech support, we've heard stories of long wait times and incomprehensible accents.

    Thanks,

    Vlad

They have an online Customer Care chat that I've had good luck with. I think it's only available during certain hours, tho, so you may have to wait until morning, but it will faster than waiting for an email response and you won't have to decipher their broken English.

Good idea. I just chatted online with Dell support and unfortunately seems they can't check on orders made in Canada, I have to call the 800 number. :(

Man, I've read here about several things that Dell blocks Canadians from--they really don't like you guys, do they? LOL ;)

It took me days to get a confirmation email. You'll waste your time to call, because I did, and they told me I didn't have an order at all. Then once the email finally came, everything was fine. Just hang in there a few days.

BradLSU: How long did it take you to get your notebook from the time you placed the order?

Two weeks maybe? From the day I placed the order until I got it in my hands couldn't have been any longer. It wasn't long at all, and definately not as long as the Dell estimate.

Bah, still no word from Dell (it's been 2.5 days). I don't understand how hard it could be to design a computer system that sends you an e-mail after you give it your credit card number. Wouldn't they save more money by sending an e-mail instead of having customers phone their tech support to complain?

I'm sure even Pokemon card trading sites are better at handling clients than Dell.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I am in this same dillema.

Did you actually call and they looked up your info and didn't see an order? That is whats happening to me. I placed an order this morning, never got the automated confirmation, called customer service who looked up my info and couldn't find an order, and told me just to wait 24 hours. I asked if it was common for an order not to go through for a 24 hr period and he said it is not uncommon.

Still, it is very unsettling. It should at least show up in their systems, I'm sure the credit card transaction is instantaneous.

The scariest part of it all is that I purchased a repackaged system from the dell outlet. If, by chance, the order didn't go through, I will have to hold my breath for another good model to appear, which was a REAL hassle in the first place.

Anyhow, if anyone has had a similar experience, and can offer any words of comfort... I am in need.

they probably had to clear your information out before they can confirm your order. i bought from small business. i got my confirmation within 1 hour of the purchase. they build mine in 1 day. i upgrade all the features except the 6 cell battery. i got my laptop in 2 days. 2 days is kind of long to wait for confirmation or acknowledge email.

-_- I think is because i live on Puerto Rico, thats why we gotta wait a week for confirmation and 25 to 1 month to receive the product. Is pretty upset too, that we can't buy the best products like the XPS M170 and stuff like that. But hey whatever works for me, just give me my laptop and i be happy -_-
