I had an e1705, got replaced with an 1720, and it has no dvi. Dell told me that if my laptop gets replaced with another one that the new one will have equal or better parts, WTH? dells sends me a 1720 and its dont even have a dvi port. I been trying to get it replaced since monday and still no luck. The only dell line that has dvi is the XPS. The rep even goes far enuff to tell me that the 1720 has dvi, Im not stupid. What shuld I do to get it replaced. jg

nope no DVI or HDMI on current Inspirons.. the 8600m GT does have VGA though. and they'll never give you an XPS as a replacement for an e1705 over the lack of DVI/HDMI. you're stuck with the 1720.

Well if I cant get a replacement that has dvi then the only thing for me too do is ask for a refund, or try to get my old laptop back. What ever happen to equal or better?

Equal or better applies holistically, not part by part. Otherwise, I would dig up an old laptop with a serial/parallel port and tell the company to screw themselves.

They did give you a machine of equal or probably better value... if not better in every single way. But if DVI is crucial to you... I'd just sell it and then buy whatever you want.

What video card was in your E1705?

Sorry, the 1720 is not a good replacement, imho. Plenty of people have received a 1730 because of the DVI issue or because of the 1720s inferior video card. If Dell won't budge, demand a full refund. I also don't believe the "holistic" idea of equal or better. I have an e1705 with a 7900gs and 1920x1200 lcd. I would never accept a 1720 because it does not have a video that card that can provide acceptable framerates at a high resolution. If DVI is essential, they should provide a laptop with a DVI.
