I just got a price quote of $1424 for the following:

    M1330 black Vista Premium
    C2D T5250 1.5GHz
    WLED w/o cam
    2GB DDR
    160GB 5400rpm
    Intel wireless N
    bluetooth
    fingerprint reader
    SB Audigy
    Integrated graphics
    1yr warranty

I waited till the very end to mention that I'm a college student and therefore I want the student discount tacked on. The rep told me that he's not able to apply the student discount himself and transferred me to the proper department. I gave the second rep (from the EPP department) the quote #, she looked at the setup, and said she can't give me a discount on this system with this price. She said the quote is from Dell home/home office and therefore I can't apply the student discount towards it. She told me that with the discount applied, she can give me the same system $1620 shipped (the original quote came to $1524 shipped).

Now, is it true that the EPP discount doesn't apply to home/home office purchases or is she just BSing me? Has this ever happened to anyone else when they try to use an EPP discount? I want to know other people's experience before I call back again. Thanks

It is true that the EPP discount can only be applied to the EPP section of the site. Start at www.delluniversity.com and go from there, and then you should be able to get the discount.

Just FYI, but under most cases the discount does not stack with any coupons or offers...and the EPP discount will not stack with anything Home & Home Office has to offer. Just go with what gets you a lower price!

Thanks for the response. Oh well, I'll just go with the quote I got from the home/home office rep.

This would be a re-order since I already tried to order it once a few weeks ago. Dell's price hike actually worked out to my favor since I just called back and downgraded a few things from my original order and got everything plus bigger HDD, SB Audigy, and fingerprint reader for less than what my original order cost. Kind of wish now that I had gone ahead and maxed out everything in the first order. I probably could've then scaled back to the system that I actually want for like $1000.

Would've been sweet if I was able to get the EPP discount on top (I figure it would've cancelled out with tax) but oh well. The only thing holding me back from going ahead and placing the order is the video card. Still trying to figure out if it's worth the $150 to get 8400m since I'm not really going to be playing games on it. Maybe I'll trade the Timbuk2 bag for the 8400m. Gotta decide soon as the quote is only good for 24 hours (kind of odd but whatever).
