OMG I can't believe the E1705 doesn't have Gigabit Ethernet. Dell went all out with the laptop, but didn't put in gigabit ethernet?! This is ridiculous. I was all set on buying this, and now I may have to reconsider because of this. I am outraged!
If I decide to still purchase this, will I have problems with the internet connection in college? Will I be getting slower internet speeds because I won't have gigabit ethernet?

Dell went all out on the E1705? -
good idea.
time to look elsewhere. -
When I said all out, I meant that they put in that great graphics card, but didn't put in gigabit ethernet.
Do you guys think I should reconsider this notebook just because it doesn't have gigabit ethernet?
As I said in my post above, will I have problems with slow internet speeds in college without gigabit ethernet? -
No? Your college may have up to 30mbps download speeds (maybe less, i've seen a few universities with these speeds) and gigabit ethernet runs up to 1000mbps. Normal ethernet is up to 100mbps so you won't notice a speed difference AT ALL.
-
I think you will only notice a difference transfering files over a LAN. I doubt there will be a difference in gaming or surfing the web.
-
Unless the switch supports gigabit and all computers on the network support gigabit, you will never see any increase in speed.

uh welcome to computers.....

you make two threads, i close one
No Gigabit Ethernet on E1705!
