Hello,
I was amazed by the passion put by some people here, in older threads, about Dell not including HDMI ports on Inspiron.
IMHO, not using any kind of DRM-enabled interface it's a GOOD THING (tm)- please look why:

Maybe that's not a coincidence that 1525s are listed as 100% free-software compatible...

Its just another way to save money and push users that want all the advanced features to move up to a higher end line. They are trying to make the inspiron line the basic of the basic, but cheap, which is good in my opinion. Thats what more people want really.

Maybe I'm dumb, but what do HDMI or DVI have to do with DRM? If you're talking about HDCP that's a different ball of wax IMO.

Sorry, I'd rather have HDMI or DVI on my notebook so I can use my external monitor at home with ease. Like nizzy1115 said, it's probably done to corral those interested in these features to a higher and obviously more expensive model.

I am pretty sure he is talking about HDCP. I guess it could get confused with DRM as they are both content protection methods.
No HDMI or DVI in the new Inspiron (II)
