I,ve had the choppy sound problem, mentioned in other threads, and i tried to eliminate it by updating the sigmatel drivers as recomended but now i dont have any sound at all... there are no reported driver problems in device manager... I dont volume control icon either in the start bar, and nero says there is no sound device found although i have reinstalled chipset and all other updates from dell

    Peter,
I had exactly the same problems on my 1520 last week. I contacted Dell support online and they gave me 3 new drivers that fixed the sound 100%. They had the same names as the drivers on the support website but they were definitely different. All was well until Vista SP1 arrived and blew away allthe drivers and there was no sound at all. I reverted to a restore prior to the SP1 and everything magically came back to life. So if you are running Vista uninstall SP1 and contact Dell for the new drivers and you should be good to go
    Regards
    Gerry
