ok i searched around and have not found a solution for battery icon missing in taskbar

    tried that quickset dell utility
tried installing a newer intel chipset driver from dell.com
    tried tweakUI
yes the display icon in taskbar is checked in control panel>Power Options

its rather annoying battery level indicator worked since i had the laptop then one day its gone.

i think the main issue is the laptop thinks it is always plugged in AC power.

if anyone knows a fix it would be a huge help.

Before doing that. Control Panel/Power Options/Advanced tab. Select the "Always show icon on the taskbar" by checking it.

I have the same problem with the same laptop. I have the power meter on my taskbar however it indicates "On AC Power" even when it is on battery. Battery indicates "Not Present". Also none of the power schemes/alarms work.

I'm having the same problem with my Latitude D820. Don't have a clue what happened, but it stopped working about a week ago. I haven't any problem with it displaying battery status for past year.
