Just purchased brand new dell e1505. Lovin it! Strange thing is i don't see a built in microphone. Tried fiddling everywhere as well as searching other threads. No joy! Is my only choice to use a plug in microphone?

Yep, there's not a built in microphone.

You'll have to use an external mike and just plug it into the jack.

    Isn't that ridiculous?

Those guys at Dell are out-of-their-mind. Build a notebook without a cheap microphone. You know I am tossing this one.

I dont believe a built in microphone is such an essental feature. I know they used to have them on the grey and blue era inspirons, my friend's 600m has one. Perhaps it will be offered as a standard feature in the next generation inspiron designs, possibly with a bult in webcam, if the XPS M1210 is any indication of the future design of the inspiron lineup.

Might not be essential to you but how about for people such as myself that travel oftenly and comunicate with peers all over using ms messenger?
In today's world, there is a need for such tools, unless you are into paying for long distance calls.
