The option to upgrade screen seems to have been removed from all config options, along with Crimson Red cases.
So if you're from the UK, and nipped in to get one of these. Lucky you!
I had to cancel mine (home issues), but without it, certainly wouldn't re-order now.

Alright Widge
I decided on the Alienware M15 , when it comes out in the uk is a diff matter.
Im alright for cash at the minute so i havedecided to go full out spec on one
Cant wait
Hope you find summit your after soon mate
And yeah it sux now dells removed the options that were tempting for us in uk. I think its a blessing in disguise -
Yeah, I really really want a lappie. This is the 2nd time I've almost bought one (both times something has scuppered me). Blessing in disguise maybe, by the time I get round to things again, the specs will be even more quite lovely I'm sure.
I'm keeping an eye on AW's site too, but the customising option prices make me wince. 260 for a 7600 on the current 15.4" range! Not so much AW as OW!. -
Yea i know what you mean the AW are considered one of the best laptops but i guess you do get what you pay for and they are not cheap
Im budgeting a few grand max so figuring ill get what i want for around £1500-£200 and as its brand new out , and has a 8800 graphics i guess itll stand the test of time for a year or 2 .
Just keep refreshing now to see when i can order -
The one thing that puts me off about AW is I think the actual case designs they have are horrific!
Maybe a m1530 with an 8800 in the future eh? -
yeha know what you mean , although i do like the black skull cap design.
Looks real neat.
I just think AW quality control is alot higher than dells , probably due to the fact they dont sell half as many.
Just always wanted one, so ill get one.
If i dont like it, ill send it back -
Yep all the UK specs and offers have been reshuffled today as there were loads of offers and coupon codes expiring last night.
The cheapest M1530 available is now under £600 which is a reduction I think.
As Widge has already stated the 1280 x 800 is now the default and only option on most of the machines, except for the £1,049 config which has the 1440 x 900 screen by default, the option to upgrade to 1680 x 1050 and the BluRay drive as default.
Some of the option prices have changed as well, the ones I've noticed...
REDUCED Vista Home Premium -> Vista Ultimate was £82.25 ($164) now £70.00 ($140)
REDUCED RAM Upgrade from 2Gb to 4Gb is a far more reasonable £70 ($140) - it was a ridiculous £209.99 ($418) previously...!!!
REDUCED Battery upgrade from 6 cell to 9 cell was £20 ($40), now Free
INCREASED Hard Drive upgrade from 250Gb SATA to 64Gb SSD was £800 ($1,595) now £840 ($1,675)
As always with Dell the offers keep changing and will suit different people depending what they're looking for, someone after a lower spec with Vista Ultimate and a 9 cell battery is perhaps better off now than they were before. But someone else after a high-resolution panel is probably disadvantaged if they didn't want the top-spec machine with BluRay, etc.
Swings and roundabouts... -
Well we all expected the prices to be increased - but was kind of hoping for a tech refresh with Penryn and LED - this is a huge disappointment.
-
Its only 1 day since the price change. There is bound to be more changes in the next week or two.
I need to buy one as well so kinda holding on till the 2.6/2.8 processors or even the the quad ones. boy they must be fast !

The current set of promotions on the UK site run to the 13th Feb (2 weeks) so something may happen after this date...Penryn as a Valentines gift from Dell perhaps?
-
Good thing I did order mine on Monday with a 1440x900 screen i'm very very happy I bit the bullet and ordered when I did! -
Compared a couple of M1530 systems, the (PRODUCT)RED is cheaper or equally priced to regular systems specc'ed up with Vista Ultimate.
No more 1440+ screens on UK m1530 on systems under 1k
