    Hello,

    I have sony, vaio notebook, while booting its showing NO operating system, so i formated whole hard disk and reinstalled XP, but again it is showing same error.

    But when i put the XP CD n boot, laptop boots properly...y is that so

    Any suggestions.

    Could be that you're failing to install the proper drivers for your hard drive controller during the install process? If your laptop has SATA drives quite possibly windows does not have their own driver for them and you'll have to install the manufacturers drivers.
