So I call the 800 433-9014 like I do normally each and every day 100 times a day and it won't give me an update, says to hold for 2 tones and transfers me to a rep where it's a 10+ min hold time.
My order is in the build stage and has been there since the 12, supposed to ship this Thur the 26th.....I bet they're in the process of canceling my order or something evil like that!
hold me!
-
Wait for the rep, they'll upgrade it to Overnight shipping.
-
-
I called at 12.30 pm and I got the updated status.
-
-
-
i didn't say anything. i didn't ask for it. i didn't complain. i just asked what was the status of my order and he offered it.
-
-
Or, you can just ask why its taking so long, and when they start mentioning the LCD shortage, tell them that you would like faster shipping to compensate you. -
-
They gave me overnight shipping free the day I ordered it.
I ordered under my company account for addional 12% discount, and because of that it wasn't showing in my dell account.
I called to ask for it and they just said they'd upgrade me for free.
That was back on the 12th when I thought for sure I wouldn't be waiting till the actual estimated ship date and here it comes in 2 days and I wouldn't be surprised now if it gets delayed.
I'm really concidering the Asus G1S instead.
If my order doesn't ship on time I might go for it, that GDDR3 is looking sexy, plus the HDMI port, ohhhh yeah, that turns me on! -
-
umm when I checked last night my order was in the boxing stage and I have free overnight shipping, but the estimated ship date is still 8/9/07. Do I have any chance of getting it this week?
-
I believe you should get it this week.
As a rule Dell usually over esitmates so they look good and people get there order early.
I've expierienced with my prev 2 laptops I've ordered from them.
However this time, for whatever reason, to many orders, not enough parts, etc. . . shipments are getting delayed in the build stage.
If you've passed build into boxing you should be getting your laptop real soon!
Congrats, i'm jealous! -
-
I'm getting redirected to a dell rep as well.
-
I just called and got my status, finally. I am just WAITING for it to say "testing stage" instead of "build stage". Then I will do a little dance. I have a feeling it won't for a while, due to my freaking Midnight Blue color.
-
The T7100 is 1.8ghz, the T7300 is 2.0Ghz. -
I just got through again...ready to do a dance if I got upgraded to the testing stage. but noooooo my ruby red laptop with it's backordered lcd screen is still building. i can't take waiting anymore.
-
I just got through as well again finally, currenty "In the build stage" man this is frusrating, I don't see how it's going to be done and shipped by Thursday.
Wehhhhhhhhhhhhh! -
-
what are you guys talkin about backordered lcd's?? Check the build website. It no longer shows an outrageous delay and doesn't say "may delay build time" or whatever with the wxga+ screens. I ordered mine on the 19th, and it gave me a shipment date of the 16th. I built the notebook exactly the same on the 20th and it said it would ship on the 6th. So maybe check that out...BUD
-
oh and also, order status on the website claims that the system is down for "routine maintenance, check again in a few minutes"...but has been saying that since i ordered my machine...
-
-
Still looks backordered to me.
-
there is no delay on the screens. Yes, there may be a delay on color, but i never mentioned any backorder for color, because i never knew they were backordering because of color...when i re-built my system nothing was backordered.

Let me put it another way.. I work in manufacturing myself.. many years at Motorola and now with Sennheiser. One of the big things for good customer satisfaction is on time delivery. 30 days to receive a notebook.. something that is more or less a comodity now.. is too long. Even if the customer knows this up front.. it is not good business. Not a good method to gain market share by making your customers wait that long.. Dell understands this and knows they have to compensate in some way. Its very competitive now and to be successful in manufacturing you have to hit all your goals with price, quality and on time delivery. Dell is trying to come out of a tarnished reputation. They have had some bad issues with build quality in the past and poor customer support etc.. Now Mike Dell is trying to introduce a new line up and better their build quality and support. I think it a very wise move that dell sacrifices some of their margins by throwing in freebies today when their delivery times suck. Its insurance for their future. They really need these new systems to take off with a minimum of customer fallout. So far I have to say that yes, I am waiting a long time for my notebook, but the support has been very considerate and understanding. And that is probably why I will continue waiting. -
No phone status updates for Dell Order
