Not sure if this is the right forum to ask. I noticed lately when I inserted a DVD into the DVD drive, it no longer brought up a popup window, the light on the dvd drive flashed for a few seconds but nothing happened. I could still click the drive letter to access its content manually, but it doesn't bring up the window automatically everytime a disc is inserted. I can't remember what setting I have to adjust to make it normal, anyone?

"autoplay"

how do I enable it?

Ha, most people would love to have your "problem", since they consider autoplay the most annoying thing ever.
Right click (on CD-ROM icon) > Properties > Autoplay tab, then set actions for each type of file (select "play DVD video" using your DVD player of choice).

ok, thanks for the reply. But I checked Autoplay setting and it seemed fine so that doesn't seem to be the issue.
My problem is that previously when I put a DVD in the drive or connected my card reader to my PC, it'd always bring up a window and let me browse the content or select an action to perform. But this window no longer pops up, for instance, I hook up my SD memory card reader to my PC's USB port, I heard some sound that usually means there is something connected to my computer, however there is no popup window appears, if I click Windows Explorer I can see the card reader has been connected to my computer as a removable drive. Samething happens when I put a CD/DVD into the DVD drive, the drive light flashes for a few seconds but no popup window appears, but I can still access the CD/DVD content via My Computer.
This is kind of annoying because now when I try to install a program, the program doesn't auto-run the setup window anymore, instead I'd have to go to My Computer or Explorer to browse to the auto-run file to manually open it. -
Try running the Autoplay repair wizard:
