I just recently purchased a Dell Studio 17. I am very happy with my purchase, however, I have started to notice a high pitched whining noise sometimes when I have it plugged in for charging. If I disconnect the charger from the laptop, the noise goes away and sometimes it goes away on its own. Has anyone else experienced this and/or know of a solution? It's annoying to drop a grand on a laptop that squeals like a pig.

Search on Youtube for "CPU whine" and see whether it's the same kind of noise.
If it is, well, you might consider returning it for a new one. -
My 1537 does the exact same thing, on both chargers I have. I only notice it when it's really quiet in the room I'm in...otherwise I don't notice it.
I get the feeling the sound is coming from the PSU not the CPU... -
I had HP with the same charger problem.
And as i understand CPU whine must be loud irritating sound
