    Hello,

In a few days I will be receiving my Studio 15. I'm just curious if you have to charge a laptop for 10-12 hours for the first time before being used. Because for new cameras, cellphones, mp3 players, cordless phones, etc you always have to charge it overnight usually (10-12 hours). I'm just curious if laptops are like this also. Sorry for the noob question, this will only be my 2nd laptop. ^^ Thanks in advance for your replies.

Dell laptops come fully charged(the battery).

Someone recommended using it down to 0% then doing a full recharge.

Thanks lota221211 i didn't know that. I will probably do what you said.

fignewtons6 - it depends, some batteries discharge quickly if you do not charge them for 10-12 hours the first time. This has happened to me on separate occasions with my new cellphone (at the time) and digital camera. So i was just curious if the same law (charging new battery for 10-12 hours) applies to laptops. Anyway, ill probably do that after i discharge it just to be safe. Thanks for the replies guys.

Look at the Battery Guide on this site. Charging and running down is crap! It is not needed. Sorry but that is the truth. Oh and DeLL notebooks do not come fully charged. That would not be a good idea. I don't care to explain at this point.

There was a similar thread a few weeks ago and people seemed to agree that the batteries came at 99%.

    I guess not.

wouldn't coming fully charged waste dell's money? and time?

that seems uncharacteristic of the pro "budget" dell
