Well i decided to run 3dmark05 and 3dmark06 on my Dell XPS M1210 today and i was surprised by the result, as i only got 1433 in 3dmark05 and just 522 in 3dmark06... is this normal for the M1210 with my spec (as below):-

12.1 in Notebook Screen (Intg. web cam, Mobile Broadband Antenna, ear buds)
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5600
8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
120 GB EIDE Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
    9 Cell Primary Battery
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 TurboCache
    1 GB DDR2 SDRAM 677MHz (2 DIMMs)

Btw i did re-install my windows after getting it and closed most of the programs before running the test, infact my AV Software was disabled. Any suggestion on what could be wrong, if infact something is.

Your score sounds little bit low according to this review, but not by much. What about VGA drivers?

Yeah, they do seem a little too low actually. I got 850 in 05' and 300 in 06' on my desktop computer which has a slow P4 2.66 Ghz and a Nvidia 6200. Could be your video card driver.

It really depends on the drivers you install on it.

"Official" Dell drivers are usually outdated and won't give you optimal performance.

Right now on Dell USA's support page, the official version is A01, based off of ForceWare v84.69. That is old. I usually patch the driver .INF (from enthuist sites such as LaptopVideo2Go) over the latest official NVIDIA WHQL drivers.

This is what I got under Windows XP SP2, clean install (<20 process at startup, pretty much nothing else installed on it apart from the basics):

    Official Dell A01 (ForceWare v84.69):
3DMark05 (default setting): Around 2020-2040 points
3DMark06 (default setting): Around 790-810 points
CounterStrike: Source (1280x800, actual in-game play in 32 player map): 25-40 fps (according to built in counter)

Patched NVIDIA ForceWare v91.47 (WHQL Windows 2k/XP):
3DMark05 (default setting): Around 2100-2120 points
3DMark06 (default setting): Around 850-860 points
CounterStrike: Source (1280x800, actual in-game play in 32 player map): 35-50 fps (according to built in counter)

I get a very noticable speed increase with ConterStrike: Source. With the default drivers it was borderline playable at 30fps, but with the newer driver, its night and day difference.

Currently NVIDIA has released the ForceWare v93.71 (WHQL Windows 2k/XP) dated 2nd November 2006. I haven't tried it out yet as I have been using Vista RC2 as my primary OS for the past month.

That is my personal experience anyways, your mileage might differ depending on what software you load with your Windows (which might effect the system differently).

I get 2292 in 05 using dell drivers, My rig is the same as fusions except I'm running 2 gig of 667 ram, something is wrong, check your power mizer settings, and your IQ settings, I have my IQ set to max, and all the other options set to app pref, (AA,AI,Vsync, etc), also are you running the benchmarks plugged in or on batt? My first guess would be power savings kicking in downclocking the card, make sure its plugged in, and the power settings are max performance while on ac power, I also suggest max battery on battery power, it will kill your gaming on battery, but gaming kills your battery so....there you go

I guess you have a mutant chip. I get more along the lines of 2060 with default setup. Anyone else out there getting higher scores with standard setup? I haven't done a system wipe and reinstall.

yeah i think 2000 is more of the norm if you aren't overclocking the chip.

Ok "i" :p figured out the problem (thanks iceman0124) my AA was on 4x and AI on 8x after changing the these settings to application controlled (except IQ to max) i ran the 3dmark06 again and now i got 816 also on 3dmark05 i got 2001. This is with the driver off the dell's website. i will try it again with the latest driver from the nvidia's website.

rpsbp which driver are you using ? v91.47 or v93.71? i tried 3dmarks with the v93.71 and had almost the same results (only went up by like 10 points) and also did you over clock the card? if so by how much ? thanks

I only play around with v91.52 at GPU 553MHz, MEM 1180MHz. I did you try v97? I'm having problem install it.

    I wish I have Duo2 CPU :)
