How long does a system usually sit in boxing? My system was in testing early on Monday and by afternoon it was in boxing and is still in boxing today. Is there a guide or general timeframe? Do we think boxing may not really be the status? or it is in one heck of a box! lololol!

So hopefully i will get an update tomorrow am. I callede CS and they said I was still in production. Nothing more. NOthing less. SO helpful! roflmao! But I expeected that! Then at the end of the call they wanted to do a satisfaction survey. I declined! I have nothing bad to say since I have not been delayed,etc... but with everyone elses problems here, I was a team member!

Yeah, I'm still in boxing too... Went into boxing on Monday, just like you. I'm hoping it ships today and that Dell didn't update the systems since Dell received a new shipment into Nashville this morning.

I've been in boxing since 8/27 but for some reason it did not ship on the 28th.
Shipping has been delayed until 9/5. I asked why but I didn't get a actual answer just a bunch of Dell bs.

    EDITED TO ADD THE FOLLOWING:

After I posted this message I called the automated order status number and now my order has been SHIPPED! Also says that on the Dell website.

Just about 3 hours ago I had received a phone call telling me that it had been delayed and wouldn't be shipped until 9/5. This has been one heck of an ordeal. I will be so glad when it is over and I actually have my 1520 in my hands.

I was thinking the same thing. MAy only call 1 or 2 more times until tomorrow am! Love her voice! Want to be on her shipped list so badly! (even tho ESD is 9-13 because of the wireless-N card)

My theory is "boxing" encompasses the time it takes them to fly the laptop from Mylasia to the US unpack it from a skid and them repack it in a box and get it on a truck to you... So a few days a least seems logical to me.

I've been in boxing since the weekend, but my ESD isn't until 9/17. I hope mine gets shipped soon and doesn't jump back to build.

Has anyone accidentally punched in the wrong order number on the phone line? I did that and was told my order had been shipped, I was all excited till she said it was shipped in May 2004.

Since "boxing" includes bringing the shipment in from overseas, I'm assuming that's why boxing stage takes longer over the weekend?

Yeah, that is why some of us are being shipped earlier in the day than others... They ship the laptops on the plane on pallets, so they can maximize the number of laptops on the plane. When they land they put them in boxes with all the CDs, accessories, documentation, etc... So I'm just hoping my laptop hasn't been put into a box yet and that it's just waiting in a warehouse in Nashville, TN and not Malaysia still. :-0

LOL... I did the same thing a few days back... I was so excited and "high" from hearing her say the laptop shipped. Then when she said the date, which was in 1998 or 1999, my heart quickly sank. :-(

Guys, I just checked my order status and it says "SHIPPED!"

Dell must have a rolling ship process... Basically, the new laptops come in on pallets in the morning and they release them to the carrier as they are boxed with accessories and documentation. Mine was shipped at around 6:30 PM.

Boxing was on August 27th, so two days from boxing to shipping.

Me too! Says shipped on 29th. Tracking info not yet available. Unfortunately (fortunately) mine is 2 weeks ahead of schedule so no next day shipping which is actually fine since I take my son to college tomorrow and will be gone thru saturday afternoon. Dell website says it will arrive 9-3 to 9-5. Woo hoo!!!

I know its confusing, but from what I have heard this is common. You will be in boxing again and shipped quick.
    I would not worry.

I ordered 8/8 and have been in build until at least 3 days ago. I didn't check my status figuring when I checked next and it said something great, I'd be even happier than checking every 5 minutes with the same "Build" response.

The reason I mention that is I have no idea when my laptop went into boxing, only that it is the current stage.

Now for the really weird part: my laptop ETD is still 9/12. WHY would it take almost another 2 weeks to box and ship? Is it possible? I didn't realize standard shipping now consists of sending my laptop in a paddle boat across the Pacific.

glorifiedstar, it doesn't update that way. Those Dates stay the same cause they are Estimated even when its shipped. Not a very good system.

My laptop arrived at the Tyler, TX DHL facility at 8:03 am today. I am having it delivered to my work place which is about 40 miles from Tyler. DHL normally delivers here before noon. I think I'll try and sneek away from work early today so I can home and play with my new lappy.
