    Hey guys,

Simple enough one here, but something the Dell Canada techs are fighting tooth and nail over.

Got an Inspiron 17R SE the other day, and HWMonitor, HWiNFO64, and Dell's boot diagnostics are reporting a wear level of 9%. While this isn't a major issue, I wouldn't expect this much wear right out of the gate. Battery life being probably the number one factor in a laptop for me, I take it seriously. Called Dell about this, and after talking to a supervisor, I was told I could either return the whole laptop for a new one (and risk other issues, never mind the downtime, which I can't really afford) or get a refurbished battery sent out.

On anything save for a battery, and probably a mechanical hard drive, I'd be fine with refurbished, but I'm just not sure as to the standards Dell certifies refurbished parts, particularly given the wear batteries typically experience, so I didn't go ahead with it.

Edit: I should also mention I've charged an discharged the battery a couple of times at this point, and there's been no change.

Any help (preferably from one of the Dell reps) on this would be greatly appreciated. I can PM my service tag, case number, or whatever else would help if necessary.

    Thanks!

If do a battery calibrate, discharge till the notebook turns off, then wait 30mins for it to cool and then do a full recharge with it turned off, the wear might even go higher , normal 10%+ wear in the first year, I would ask for an replacement.

I've seen anything from 1-10% wear reported for brand new laptops. Personally I'd not worry too much about it.

Bump, for the sake of getting one of the Dell reps to have a look.
