I am a pretty big music and movies buff, and the sound from my 6400's speakers just isn't enough for my listening needs. I have a 6-speaker set hooked up to my laptop right now through the headphone jack, but when you plug anything into the headphone jack, the laptop speakers cut off. So here's my question:

Is there anyway that you can have something plugged into the headphone jack of the the 6400 without cutting off the laptop speakers i.e. splitting the sound between the two?

I don't think so. When you plug in the line out from your laptop to the speakers system, The speakers on laptop will cut off. You can use a line out split it's like a 1 male plug to 2 female . Plug in all the audio line there . The sub woofer signal wont work with it so Only speakers line works.

why would you want the laptop speakers mixed with much better sounding speakers anyway? 1) you probably wouldnt be able to hear it, 2) if you could hear it, it wouldnt match the others and would sound totally out of place, like a home theatre system with really good left/right/and surrounds, and using the tv as a center speaker, it works in theory, but not really in practice

if you really care about sound quality you never ever want to hear any sound out of your laptops speakers if you can avoid it

granted the 6400 has better sounding speakers than most laptops, thats the only thing I miss now that I have my m1210, but if you have it run through a 6 piece setup trust me, you dont want your internal speakers getting in the mix
