I've had an Inspiron 6400 since December 2006. It has been acting a little weird lately. Sometimes it makes a beep sound out of nowhere. It never did that before. Also, sometimes it takes forever to go into Hybernate or Shut Down. What's going on? I'm afraid it will suddenly die on me.

You said it. I'm having the same problems.. Mine takes forever to shut down and invariably i end up forcibly shutting it down. Also my dvd drive ejects for no reason .. while im watchin a movie or while surfing the net, it keeps ejecting out..

Maybe a reformat would take care of the shutdown problem??

Beep sound...might be the hard drive. I recently had my desktop's hard drive crash and it was preceded by a beep out of nowhere.
