Sometimes I leave my notebook on, and come back to find it powered OFF.

    Dell 710M

I checked all the shutdown settings in Powermanagement, and turned them off.

There's no reason I can think of for this to happen.

    Anyone?

what is your battery like when you come back and its off? Is it still fully charged, or is it dead?

If it's dead when you find it turned off (even when left alone for a short period of time) your battery is gone!

The notebook is attached to the AC adapter btw, which is connected to a UPS.

    The battery reads 100%...

Anther issue I was having, is that I had a spare battery.
When I connect it, the notebook doesn't even come on. When I put in the Ac adaptor, it comes on,and if i take it out, the notebook cuts off

(that is a second issue, isolated from first)
