    Hi
Again another difference. Dell's notebook system software (on xp home) has kicked in, with alerts. I installed this on xp pro, but haven't seen it. There's no icon (or pgm ) to execute for it. I do keep my windows xp pro update (up to date) which may explain it, partially, but curious if anyone else familiar with this, and why it won't kick in on pro?

    Thanks.

One bump if I may.. If anyone has reinstalled winxp, along with NSS, has it ever popped up? I don't see a way to manually invoke it, and it hasn't ever prompted me. Again, not such a biggie, I use windows update, but I'd imagine that NSS would tell you if there was a new driver on Dell's site and the equivalent? Anyone?

    Thank you...

I had the same problem so I went to Dell's site to figure out what it does...here is what i found out.

It is basically software that resolves issues between other software programs and drivers installed on the system, without it there may be conflicts, and some things might not work as expected. It adds no interface or features that you can access... it is just for system stability.

I don't think its going to notify you if new drivers are there, but if you go to the download & drivers page on Dell, you can have them email you when new updates are available.

CSF2005, is that the one from Dell's Support Download webpage? If that's the case, the program installs in WinXP and checks for any existing peripheral hardware driver conflicts such as USB, Floppy Drives etc.. and resolves those issues. This program only runs once when it is being installed, meaning it doesn't run each time you boot the OS.

The program that pops up alerts on the screen and which you're inquiring is called "Dell Support 3.0" and can be downloaded at

    http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/en/dellsupport30?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn

Hope this helps, same for SoutherGirl

Just a note since you're talking about the NSS.

If you do a reinstall, the order is important. I got this from a techie on the XPS special tech line. I'm certain it would pertain to 9300, etc.

    1) OS (obvious, but...)
    2) NSS
    3) Chipset
    4) Video

    Then as you please.
