The thing is, I bought a new XPS15 which worth about $1800 on Nov4 and I paid for it.

Later on Nov 11 I received the Laptop. Lets call this laptop No1, I found some issue on the screen, that doenst display correctly, So I called the dell service for an exchange. They promised me the new one will be arrive within 7~10 bussiness days.

I kept wait for the new one, during 7days I didnt receive even a comfirmation email says the new one is in production. I consulted their support for more than 10 times, everytime they just say they will inform me within 1 hour, but I till didnt receive anything email.(because I really rely on the laptop to do my work before nov25). So I contacted and yelled to their customer that I cant wait for any longer, I will give them 13 days to ship the new one to me,the last day that I can wait is nov25, if i didnt receive the new one by that time i will cancel everything and return the No1 back.

The lucky thing is,( I am not sure if the yelling worked), I received the new one in Nov24(theres no return label in it,which they promised), call it No2, the identical configuration to No1, I told the costumer support on No28( cuz i was in travel during those days, my roommate helped me get the package),says i need a return label,I will return the No1 back as soon as possible.I dont want to be charged. They promised me that I will get the label within 24 hours.I said Ok.

Until today Dec7.I didnt receit the return label . No one contacted me. This afternoon Someone knocked my door, I just got a package that a NEW XPS15 in it, call it No3, I was like WTF? I was waiting for the label but you mailed me a new one? I checked the order on dell.com , theres a brand new order under my account placed on Nov 27(they should absolutely know that i got the replacement one by that time, and I didnt call them for any more laptops), I checked the new one,No3 is the highest configuration , much more expensive than my order( about $2300,its absolutely not my replacement laptop), I feel a little confused. What is going on? Should I keep this one? Nothing is charged under my debit card&credit card.

I tried to contact their costomer support, but I waited in the call for like 1 hour, no one picks up, and the online chat is always tons of people in the queue, I feel so annnoyed, I have spend more than 5-6 hours working with dell support. And I still need to call them back for their mistake(even for the return label again and again) during the busy weekend.

I have 3 laptops in my room know, the bad one is already packed and still waiting for the return label. the No2 is in use, the no3 is lying in the box, i dont know what to do.

Well, you lucky guy, now you have 3 laptops :)

In all seriousness, you likely got a bumped up configuration for the delay issues, and they forgot to tell you. Check that order number and use it for reference when speaking with Dell - when you finally get someone to talk with :)

I would offer to return the first 2, and keep #3's updated configuration, thank you Dell - apology accepted

Thank you for your advice, but I dont really like the 4K display they promoted for me, I like my previous configuration.. And i have deployed my course project on the No2, Many settings, files, I cant move them to the No3 recently. I will just keep it waiting for dell to caontact me. If they want it back.

Did you bother to try out the 4k display? As long as you have it there, and they sent it to you, why not check it out? It seems many find a 4k display desirable :)

You could always swap disks between the laptops instead of copying... why can't you back up and copy?

It sounds like you already decided on what to do... keep #2 and send back #1 & #3.

Too bad you didn't reject #3 receipt at the door, you could have skipped the cost/hassle of shipping it back. :)

I wouldn't play that card, it's common for mistakes to be made and taking advantage of someone isn't good karma.

Dell's intent was to make good on their support promise to you, it's not like they are abusing the situation to charge you for 2 laptops, that's what that protection is for - it doesn't apply in this case, just send it back.

Besides, if you keep it they could charge you, with their messed up paperwork, you are better off getting shipping/delivery confirmation.

In that case, you would have a case for not paying, but it sounds like a hassle and too much of a headache to pursue to me :)

I can prove that I didnt order for No3, Neither did they inform me for the promotion, the order was placed silently that no one even notice that. Its an absolutely unordered laptop.

But thans for your advice, I will try to contact them, but not in an very active way, If the support continues to have a long queue, I will just end the call then waiting for them to contact me.
