My XPS 1530 LCD was not doing well. so I called dell and asked them to replace it. they did today. but guess what. the new one is beautifl bright and great comparing to the old one. one problem though . I had the 1050X1680.. the new one is 800X1280.. now what??? should I have them get another one or exchange the whole computer....
the guy who replaced the monitor said hat he will take care of it. means that he will ak for the right one and come back and replace this one. but should I beleive that .???

I got the same problem man, except I didn't ask for a replacement. Instead, I return the xps 1530 for full refund. My screen has unbearable backlight bleeding and I hate replacing the lcd with the chances of it being horrible again. Just gonna wait for the LED backlit or maybe the new Mac ultraportable or Macbook pro.

I wouldn't believe the "tech guy" as he simply works as en employee for dell.... he surely doesn't care that much if you are a happy customer or not at all.

I would rang up dell immediately and let them know of the problem, and order a new replacemente WXSGA+ immediately.

    Good luck with everything

I had the same problem. They gave me the wrong LCD same problem as yours but I caught it while in production. I looked at the order status. I called and had them fix it. I asked for the LG screen, hopefully that works. I asked for compensation and got a $50 gift card.

I went through the tech support chat a few minutes ago and got a nice rep. I told him about the screen (bad backlight bleeding, terrible viewing angles) and he sent a replacement screen next day air. I asked to replace the panel myself and he didn't have any quarrel with that. I'm an IT guy so I'll replace it myself as soon as the package arrives tomorrow. Crossing my fingers for a better panel or an LG.

Lucky you, with replacement there is no way I can see what they are sending. my older one was Samsung.. bad bad.. this one I have on now is great LG bright and nice... just wrong resolution..
So I called them and they are sending another one overnight. I talked to the manager of custumer care and told him this is the last chance, one more mistake and they will have me NO MORE. I will return the laptop and buy diffrenet brand.
    So I will see..

Guess what? My replacement has a very bright screen but 1280 * 800 resolution. I ordered 1680 * 1050. I even called them while it was in production to tell that they had a mistake and they still got it wrong. Its way brighter than the Samsung.

I also ended up with the SEC display (1680x1050) which is great, but quite dull, too grainy, and viewing angles aren't any better! I think I want to ask them to send me another display. If I call them up will they charge me for anything or will they just ship me out another display? Also will I be able to keep the old display if I wanted to switch back?

Also if you already installed it yourself, how difficult was it? I looked at the service manual and it didn't seem like there was too much involved.

I watched the guy replace my 1680x1050 one and it was a nightmare. You need to dissassemble the entire laptop. I would never try it. Plus you need to pry at the black button housing and it just looked like at any moment the whole thing could crack. I'd say you have about a 75% chance of breaking something. I have built computers for years and would not attempt it myself.

    oh great...

I have built plenty of desktop myself and done minor stuff with laptops. The main thing I am worried about is the method the parts of the laptop are sealed. Sometimes a lot of parts are "snapped" in and don't have screws. This means removing those parts may scratch the laptop. Secondly it probably wont be held together as strong as when it was sealed originally. I'm going to guess everyone else had a difficult experience with the actual screen installation? Anyone think it was easy to do?
