Now that there is Inspiron 13, is there a reason to get the XPS M1330?

Did Dell just use the returned parts from the many returned M1330 to make the Inspiron 13? They look so similar. Any advantage of getting the M1330 if you are only going for a low to mid-end configuration?

I really like my 13. A machine this spec and size for the price is hard to come by.

However, it's no m1330. It's thicker, heavier, and from a style standpoint, it can't even touch the m1330.

But, the m1330 can't touch the price of the Inspiron 13. So, I own the 13.

Those deals are OK. But Best Buy's current Inspiron 13 deal is way better. I got the machine in my signature for 699. That's a tough deal to beat for a 13 inch notebook of this spec.

Not to mention that the Inspiron 13 doesn't have HDMI out.

Saw the ad from BestBuy for $699 and read the comments. One said that it was all plastic, no HDMI as advertised and no Bluetooth. I just saw the Dell mini selling in advance with a 3year warranty from QVC for $579.

This is correct. There's no HDMI or Bluetooth, and it is all plastic (not sure why anyone would think otherwise).

But the M1330 is also made with a magnesium alloy and I don't think that the Inspiron 13 is made with the same alloy.

The Inspirion 13 is mag alloy on the bottom of the chassis, however the rest of the system chassis is plastic. I have the Best Buy special too! Best Buy is now just selling it for $699 as normal price! Great deal!!!

I saw QVC today just for the Dell show and I hate these companies that give you a waayyyy marked up "retail price", their "introductory price", then their "special price". It's all marked up really high. They (QVC) sell Dell's on their website with huge mark up's on configurations that cost waaayyy less than on Dell!

The Inspiron 13 does look nice and is a great price for a 13 inch notebook, but there are enough differences between the two to have a reason to purchase one over the other. The M1330 is lighter and thinner and has higher configurations such as an LED screen, dedicated graphics, HDMI.

How useful is the HDMI if you don't have a blu-ray player?

the hdmi is very useful even if you dont have bluray player. video and audio in one wire and not to mention the ability to watch 1080p content on a big screen tv. it was definitely a must for me.

    I don't know about that.

I've had my Inspiron 13 for two weeks, and not that I dislike it, but I'd gladly take an m1330. It's the superior device.

I have M1330, but I think I'm going to have to sell it even though I like. The glossy screen is driving me (and my eyes) crazy!

Glossy screen is my mistake too, I hear they are nicer if your sitting in a dark environment, however if u want to mobile in a park, u better sit in shade if u want to see :D

The M1330 and Inspiron 13 are pretty similar at first glance. However, the M1330 has a few things that are clearly better and therefore cost more. If you're on a budget, get the Inspiron 13. If not, get the M1330.
