So I just got the chance to start playing with my Vostro 1400. Since a few people complained about the fan I started to monitor it as well. I notice that I do feel some sort of air on the left side but it is very light but sometimes the fan seems quite hard. Just curious if there are 2 fans? Where one is strong and other is kind of the weak one running most of the time and the other turns on when under heavy load.

    Any info?
I notice that low one is almost on all the time. The stong one turns on for about 30-50% time.

I believe it only has one, if the vostro is supported in i8kfangui, I would use that and set the fan to turn on low constant, and kick into high at a much lower temp than default, thats how I have my M1210 setup, it never gets past mid 50's load, idles around mid 30's.

Well when I used coretemp to check my CPU temp it came out to be 33 and 34 for the 2 cores. This was after an hour of web surfing light use.
    Is this normal temp?

And yes the fan seems to run more then my T40. Some mentioned that this maybe the Vista fetchforward program where it is trying to learn and this will slow down.

Anyone using the Vostro for 2 weeks or so and have seen the fan to be on less then before?

Those temperatures are better than what I am getting. With simple tasks my CPU temps are around 37 and go up to around 56 with a full load.
