I recently overclocked my xps 1530 getting some good results, but this didnt last that much, it rolled back... I noticed when later that the sliders that set the clocks didnt let me change the setting and stayed in stock setting, I changed them and they just reset back. I didnt know what the problem was, I tried with atitools, ntune and rivatuner, they all just reset back. I found the problem, when the notebook was plugged in I could change any setting but as soon as i unpluged it the setting reset to stock values. So I wanted to know if anyone knows how to fix this, maybe this is in the vga settings or some protection?

What drivers are you using?

Oh by the way, sorry to bump in but, speaking about overclocks, is the 169.04 drivers from what I heard and read, "overclockable" over most drivers for 8600m GT? I had the same situation as yours as it rolled back automatically, (Some 17++ driver). I have installed it from latopvideo2go on my Inspiron 1720 but I have yet to try on 169.04 yet.

im using the lastest, 174.93, maybe thats why the rollback, the 169.xx could work but im not sure, I have to try them also
