    At least they didn't just give me delays, they came straight out with a realistic date :p all the dell reps I talk to though keep saying "Its normal to take that long, all our computers take that long to ship out" >.> Losing all hope in mankind slowly...

    I feel your pain man. I know this is gonna sound sad, but its the only thing i've been looking foward to ALL summer and the days are going really quickly because this laptop is all im focused on.

    Call customer service 1-800-433-9014 and key in your order number when it prompts you to do so. It will tell you what stage your in.

    Thanks. I called and it states that my 2 orders are in the boxing stage. I've been delayed twice with the most recent esd being 8/19/08. Should the fact that it's 8/12/08 and it's listed as in the boxing stage give me any hope that it might get shipped sooner? :confused:

    Hi All,
    Ordered my Studio 15 on 07/27/08 with a estimated ship date of 08/05/08, was then revised to 8/12/08 and yesterday I got the good old must contact them to proceed email with a revised estimated ship date of 8/19/08. I was told mine failed testing for the video card and hard drive but I am not sure if I believe them seeing as how everyone else’s is being delayed as well. Any way I really like the features of this laptop but I sure am not that happy with Dell right now. This is my first personal Dell purchase and I have just never seen such delays.

    Mine arrived today at about 11:30am... it is beautiful. So happy with it, although there seem to be some kinks, like programs not opening when they definitely should, ill have to look into this more, but all in all its amazing. I even turned the lights off just so i can use the backlit key board lol.

    I am like everyone else here I'm very anxious to get mine, but like other people who have posted June-August is the worst time to order a custom becasue they overwhelmed with orders because of kids and college. I knew this going in and was willing to wait. I have owned Dell desk tops and love them! This is my first laptop and I am willing to wait whatever it takes to get the custom order and the quality of Dell. The rest of you have every right to vent all you want but tis the season and it's too bad that some of you are cancelling your orders just because it's taking so long. You won't have the sexy studio 15's like the rest of us patient customers.

    Today is my third day in the boxing stage also, so I called a Dell rep to see why it is taking so long in the boxing stage. She stated that it's still in the build stage and the status is incorrect and she will get it corrected. Yippee! :mad:

    Well, the good news for you guys is that at least Dell is giving you some sort of revised estimated ship date and ETA. For some strange reason, Dell is refusing to give me any updates on my order status.

    My daughter has been working very hard saving up for a laptop this year. My wife has a Dell Inspiron 600m (custom ordered through Dell) that has been very good and my daughter wants something similar but more updated. She wanted me to help her order a new laptop online and so I ordered a Studio 15 notebook for her on July 27th. The e-mail from dell and their online status gave me a Shipping date of August 11th and Delivery of August 12th.
    The order was received on July 27th, went into order processing and pre-production on the same day and then into production on July 28th. The V220 mouse that was order as an accessory was shipped and delivered 2 days later (great, we have a wirelss mouse). However, as of today, the Studio 15still in production. Please note that at the time that I ordered this, there were no items listed that would cause a delay.
    On August 11th, I called Dell to find out if it was in fact shipping that day. I was first asked to enter my order # in over the phone and it told me, get this, that my order had shipped on April 2, 1999!!! So I then entered the # again over the phone and was given the same answer. I then decided I needed to speak to a CS rep so after a bunch of transfered calls, I get to someone who tries to help me. I give her my customer # and order # and they tell me "yeah, it shipped on April 2nd, 1999". I said, "ok, that's obviously not my order so where is my order?" Then she asks me if I could find any # on my packing slip that came with my V220 mouse accessory. I read her everything off that packing slip and she still couldn't find my order!
    She then puts me on hold for a few minutes and comes back and says something about probably the order is in small or medium business but not sure.
    Then she transfers me to someone in Customer Care. After a few minutes this guy tells me that he's found my order and tells me that there is some parts backordered and that they don't know for how long BUT "not to worry, sir.. as soon as we get the parts, we will complete your order and ship it to you." Wow! I asked what exactly was backordered and he puts me on hold and then tells me that it's the LED screen and that many others are affected by this. I asked why my order status has not been updated with a revised ship date and he said "not to worry, sir.. we will update it". I gave him my e-mail address and he supposedly wrote it down and was to e-mail me with an update. I have yet to see any update on my order status. It's still in production with an ETA of August 12 (today is August 14).
    So I wait 2 days and my status is still the same and I decide to e-mail them on August 13 re my concerns with this order and it's lack of status. I receive a reply last night and it reads:
    "Thank you for contacting Dell.
    I apologize for the delay being caused in shipping this order to you.
    I find that one of our representatives has already explained this fact to you during the telephonic conversation you have had with the representative.

    Well, I thought, at least they replied... but he tells me that a rep already explained this 'fact' to me?!?

    So I shoot off a reply:
    "XXXX,
    Thank you for your response. However, I was also asking why I am not receiving any new status updates? The customer care representative that I had the telephone conversation with said that he would update my order status and this has not happened. This whole order is odd in that it went into production on July 28th and has been there ever since. My status as of today still says Estimated Shipping of Aug 11th and Estimated Delivery date of Aug 12th. This has passed and I am without an updated status.
    I would appreciate your prompt assistance with this matter.
    Regards"

    Today I get this reply:
    "Thank you for contacting Dell.
    We are unable to provide any status updates on these orders due to the fact that there is unavoidable delay for these orders.
    I truly apologize for all the inconvenience caused to you due to the delay of this order.
    Incase if you have further questions, please reply to this email, I will be more than happy to assist you.

    Thank you for choosing Dell."
    So today, I called again and got the run around until I was passed to a Customer Care person again. They tell me the same thing.. "backordered parts and we don't know when we'll get them but rest assured that as soon as we get the parts we'll complete your order and ship it to you". I told him that I don't believe that my order has even gone into production yet if you are still waiting for parts but thanks for your answer. He asked me if I had any other questions and I said "yeah, so when can I expect this order.. September, October, Christmas?!?" He said "oh, I'm not sure but maybe in a few weeks".

    How is it that they can have NO IDEA for approximately when my order will be ready for shipping when everyone here is at least being given new revised dates?!? Not only that but how can they just say, "don't worry, when we get the parts we'll produce your order and ship it to you". Oh gee, really? Oh, good!.. I thought you guys were just going to finish it and keep it for yourselves.. I'm glad they told me that they would ship it when it's done!

    I feel bad for my daughter who has had her heart set on this notebook and is patiently waiting. In the meanwhile, all I can tell her is that It'll get done when it gets done.

    Hello there! First time posting here. I came in search to see if others were having the same delays as I was.

    This is my 4th dell and I've never experianced delays like this before.

    Order placed August 10th.
    Estimated Ship Date: September 9th.
    Estimate Delivery Date: September 11th.

    My first laptop also had a "may delay...blah blah" on it as well when I ordered it, that delay was 3 days. I figured this was much the same thing.

    I called Dell to see if they could do anything as this is a purchase for school and I cant wait until September for it. The person on the phone was generally unhelpful.

    Emailed and got a response that they were bumping up my shipping method and expediting my machine so that I would receive it in time.

    Today's Stats:

    Order placed August 10th.
    Estimated Ship Date: September 9th.
    Estimate Delivery Date: September 10th.
    Status: In production (building stage).

    Oy.

    We shall see....

    Has anyone else spoken to Dell about getting their orders rushed? Responses?

    I've called and can barely understand anyone. All they ever do is read from a script and say the same things over and over again. Dell would save alot of money if they closed down their "Customer Service" office in India or wherever the hell it is and invest in more parts so their customers dont have to wait 3 months for a stupid computer that should take a couple hours to build.

    Sorry, but i seriously doubt they are gonna rush you it. August 10th is really late for a school computer. Im kind of in the same boat, but i ordered mine July 25th and still haven't received it.

    Yeah my current laptop clunked out on me. I don't figure they'll rush it. I may just cancel and order something else (from a different company) but they seem so cool! I can't make up my mind.

    The script reading drives me nuts. If I have to wait on hold for 20 minutes and go through countless automated menus then at least speak to me like an individual!

    Has anyone been delayed more than 2 times? I'm on my 2nd delay, my laptop is supposed to ship the 19th, and it isn't even in boxing yet. I'm beginning to think my laptop hasn't even been in production since I ordered it(it went into production the day I ordered it).

    I keep reading about people who ordered around the same time as me who have been receiving theirs or going into boxing the last few days.

    I'm on my second delay. I ordered mine on July 29th. It's supposed to ship on Monday 8/18, but it's still "in production". Like you, it's been that way almost since the day I ordered it. I'm anticipating another delay email on Monday. I wish they wouldn't wait until the day of the estimated shipping date to send out those emails.

    Yeah I was just about to call Dell to inquire but changed my mind. There really is no point as all they do is read off of scripts. The last time I called on the day it was supposed to ship and it was still in the build stage, they said not to worry it is still scheduled to ship that day. And when I asked why it hasn't reached the boxing stage yet, they said customers can not see or hear when the product is in that stage and that it goes directly from build to shipping which is a lie.

    StrawberryCrush, your system specs are very similar to what I ordered at about the same time. It'll be interesting to see when your order does ship to you. I'm still in disbelief that they can't even give me a ship date (other than Aug 11th which has clearly come and gone).

    I'm not really here to complain, since I knew full well I could be facing a delay when I ordered my Studio 15. I ordered on 8/1 and was quoted a ship date of 9/2. I will say I didn't think about that too much, just figured they were giving tons of lead time. I have exchanged a couple emails with customer service this week, and FWIW, they have placed a "expedite" order on my build, and they agreed to upgrade the shipping at no charge. They say they are waiting on battery and keyboard shipments from their suppliers.

    Now if it doesn't ship by 9/2, I will enter the irritated stage...
