    ALL fellow 1720 owners of U.S., thanks to a chat with my Dell rep, I got an automated callnig number that will tell you precisely where your laptop is in the production stage, it's 1-800-433-9014

    I've been calling the number the past few days, and am beginning to think that "build stage" is just another way for Dell to say "in production".

    Mine is now in the "testing" stage, so at least it's been built. Still says my shipping date is July 24. It can't take almost two and a half weeks to test, box, and ship a notebook can it?

    Actually, the order status page still says it's in production. The order status webpage doesn't give you the actual stage in production. I just called 1-800-433-9014, and mine is now in the boxing stage. The recording will tell you that the notebook is in production, and is in the build, testing, or boxing stage. When it ships, it will finally change from the production stage. Mine was ordered on 6/30, and when I called last night it was in the testing stage. This morning it had changed to boxing, so hopefully it will ship soon.

    I work at a Dell Kiosk, and basically what they tell us is that it takes 7-10 days for the item to ship to you. 3-5 days to assemble, 3-5 to ship. Anything longer is typically worse-case scenario, but for these new laptops, they may add another few days from the process due to the demand. Other than that, you should be good. ;)

    i have and it looks great. the colors looks so much more vibrant. but i m concerend with the glare....

    1440*900 is a little low resolution for me. i was hoping for the 1600*1050 or whatever is the next one up but im surprised they only offer the 1440 and the 1900....sigh oh well... might have to turn down the resolution in my games.

    Yeah but 1920*1200 would be a bit too much actually too little.. literally... so 1440*900 would suffice...

    Glare.. well.. its ok.. have to live with it.. love the glossy mirror finishes... haven't seen Dell's Trulife though which is why was a bit worried...

    Ordered mine on 6/30 and it shipped today. Estimated shipping was 7/24, but now it's scheduled to be delivered 7/12-16. I have a DHL tracking number, but it shows up as "Tracking number not found." I'm patiently waiting to see when DHL thinks they will deliver it.

    I'm considering a 1900x1200 screen, any 17 inch owners seen how it looks yet? I wouldn't mind hearing some thoughts on those who have seen it in person and/or own it.

    I'd like to hook it up with Blu Ray.

    I ordered mine on 7/5 through my college, I guess that's close enough. :)

    See sig for specs. I got midnight blue, and the 1440 x 900 glossy. The estimated ship date is 7/28 and will be here 8/2. However, the representative told me this is a worst case scenario, as stated before in this thread. Hopefully it will come sooner... :cool:

    Ha, you must have ordered an awesome laptop then! :D

    Ordered on July 5th, since the Education/Government Department was closed on July 4th. The guy I talked to on the phone somehow got me a crazy discount on it, because from my first order on July 3rd, I upgraded from:

    1yr warranty--> 3yr in home service etc.
    80GB HDD--> 160GB
    no camera--> 2MP Camera
    no antivirus--> 3 yrs McAffee
    9 cell batt.--> 6 cell + 9 cell
    standard wireless card--> next best wireless card
    no earphones--> earphones (w00t! :cool: )

    Are you ready for this? All those upgrades for a WHOPPING $36 MORE.

    If you are ordering a computer through your college, make sure you call the Education and Gov't. department and ask for Tony.

    Yeah. Anyway. There ya go. Other info is in my two other posts above yours.

    When is yours expected? I couldn't find it in the thread. And can anyone confirm if it has the bulit-in mic? Thanks!

    Wait a second...your eta is SHORTER than mine (I ordered the 5th, eta 27th) AND I paid $1609 ($1706 with tax)?!? Tell me I had a few more extras than you, or I got screwed. :confused: Edit: Well, I guess I didn't get screwed that bad. Just kidding.

    Did you get the 3yrs warranty, 2 batts, camera, etc?

    And by the way, can someone confirm if the touchpad is metal or plastic? (please plastic...)

    This is with 7%off with the Dell Care plus, 12%off with EPP and they took another 200 off because I didn't want to purchase it for a total of 1744. They also upgraded the wireless card to the 4965AGN for free.

    Holy crap! :eek:
    No wonder. I got about a 7% discount through my college and $50 because they couldn't get the Dell Preferred Account working. That definitely trails your 7% + 12% + $200.

    I went through your whole list, and the ONLY difference is the LoJack 3yrs (I don't know how much that's worth.)

    If you don't mind me asking, what's EPP? I want 12% off!

    @ SchecterRocker - Wowzers! :O

    What did you say to him? I'm going to call him up if I can get a great deal like that! Did you whisper sweet nothings into his ear?

    I'll have to do what Paznos did, too. Try to get them to get me some incentives because I don't want to pay that much. XD
