Hi, all~~~Sorry for the excitement (err, my excitement)....Well, this is my first lappy...so ~ of course, I am going to be excited!!!! Yikes, it took me long enough to finally come to my senses, and order & here she is!!! Actually, I got "her" "Scarlett"...(I have just got to stop phrasing that way) ;) :D Well, I picked her up last night..at the DHL depot, but I basically just looked her over & layed low last night!

So, tonight, when I got home from work, I powered it up, & so far so good...I haven't hooked up to wireless to get to the internet or anything yet...(I have to transfer files from my desktop, etc, and do some updates on it).

I did check to see what brand the monitor is. It is "LPLDF00"...Anyone have this? I'm trying to figure what "brand" this is ~ Is this an LG??? So far, the screen, is pretty "crisp". It was a little slow to start up, initially, and the fan has come on a few times. This is probably normal, though ~ it is not obnoxious or loud, in anyway.

Without transferring anything over as I basically just powered on, I have: 121GB of 136GB free on my h.drive, and 5.30 of 9.99 on my recover disk.

Any suggestions on what I should clean up to free up space? I haven't installed the MS Works CD, Audigy CD, or the Roxio DVD.

I ended up purchasing a brand new Linksys Wireless G WRT54G from someone I work w/for $25 (brand new sealed in package) ~ I thought was a great deal vs. paying $50 in the store!! I'm still working on getting MS Office 07.

It didn't come w/any "plastic" film protection or anything, like other's have mentioned that their 1530's have - it just looks good ~ Once, I get her (oops)! it ~ the lappy all set up I will post some pic's of my new joy!!! :D

As far as your screen. you are lucky. you got the Lg. enjoy.
soon the 121 GB will become 90, but you can get back some of the disk space by deleting the old restoration points.

You can also reduce the amount of space System Restore is allowed to take up. Here you go. :D

I just sent my 1530 back not because it wasn't great but I am looking into another laptop at the moment. Anyway, the laptop is a great one if you get the perfect screen like i did :)

Now, I'm back to my dull 1000 one

Why did you send the laptop back? I thought M1530 is one of the great buy from Dell. Any specific reasons? or you know something that I don't?

congrats on the great laptop. I got mine yesterday and I also have the LG screen and am loving it. I've only found two problems with it so far which are very minor. The first was the keyboard that was slightly sticking up in the middle which was easily rectified by opening up the laptop, removing the keyboard and rerouting some wires then putting a slight bend in the top middle of the keyboard to prevent it from happening again. While the second is the touchpad going haywire for 10 seconds when i open the lid. (i have mine set not to turn off or standby when i close the lid)

other than the the system is immaculate and i ran a 3dmark06 earlier with a score of 5308. I am very pleased with my system!
