This has been on the dell website for at least a month...i searched their inventory for fw331 about a month back and this came up...

I mean seriously, this is way better than buying it with a vostro for 60$.

So might as well buy it from the people that sent theirs back. And yes I searched already and nobody here informed the people about these refurbed remotes. So don't gimme that "old" crap .

Is this the same remote that comes with the M1330?

 

$60? I think that's the Bluetooth remote, the one that sticks out about half an inch from the ExpressCard slot when stored? This remote I believe is the Dell Travel Remote which you could get for $15 when ordering a new notebook.

 

This is the one that's $15...brand new when you ordered.

$60 is for the Bluetooth remote.

Wow, I see Vostro is really for business, they wanted to rip off all the business people who buy it and need it to present their PowerPoints or whatever. My bad for the wrong information though.

Not compatible with the 1520? What?

i can confirm that the m1330 infrared express card remote WILL NOT work on my Vostro 1400.

In NZ the vostro remote + earbuds is $16. Wonder why you guys are paying for the nose for such a simple feature?

 

Wait, is this because the remotes are different or because the 1400 doesn't support infrared unless configured with that option? I ordered 2 of these spare remotes for my M1330. I see no reason why the $10 remotes on this page won't work with an M1330

I agree that I thought the m1330 remote should have worked.
I returned the m1330, so I can't test anymore.

But I had the m1330 on and the vostro 1400 on. I pointed the remote at the Vostro and nothing happened. Then I pointed it at the m1330 and it worked.

 

Just because you see it sticking out, doesn't mean it's the same remote. I agree, people that ordered the cheap IR remote on the Vostro got ripped off badly.

I got a free BT remote ($60) from Dell. Just received it today.

Bah, with tax and shipping these come out to $17.98 for me. And my dell rep told me it was included when I ordered. I need to talk to that guy.

 

oh well, I ordered 2 of the remotes and they shipped already. If they don't work with my M1330 I'll sell them It looked like the same part # as the M1330 remote. Maybe the codes are different or something, but it is the same remote

 

I called customer service.

 

From everything I can find, the M1330 remote is the same as the refurb on the Dell page. The part # is the same. I guess I'll find out whether these work or not pretty soon

 

Can anyone confirm that this remote actually works on the Vostro line?

I saw the order screen someone posted earlier but there are tons of IR remotes so without the part # you can't be 100% positive it is the same one. Would like to know if someone has actually used the DW331 with their Vostro and can verify it works!

 

anyone order one of these remotes from the dell website? If so does it really take 1-2 weeks to ship out? I want to order one but i go to school on the 30th so if it takes 1 week to ship ill wait till i get to school so i can ship it to my mailbox their.

 

Ok I ordered 2 of these remotes. Took about a week to receive and they DO work with the M1330! Sweet!

 

I also just got mine, and both do work on my Vostro 1400 and Vostro 1500.

Sweet deals if you ask me. Doesn't even look like its refurbished at all =P.

 

So one confirmation that it didn't work on a Vostro 1400, and one confirmation that it DOES work on Vostro 1400 and Vostro 1500.

a very nice CSR on Dell Chat ordered one for me as compensation when i asked about my delay. ordered on 8/22, shipped 8/23, received 8/28.

BTW: Yes they are the original remotes..and by refurbished I believe all they did was re-wrap with a new battery because mine looked and works like new. It slides into the ExpressCard slot. Just received mine Friday of last week. Thanks again for the original post!

 

Could someone from the us buy remote and put it on ebay. The remote cost £60 in England and other European countries so you can make a good profit. I'm willing to pay £30-40.
