Ok, I was going to order my new laptop, BUT the dell.com site went down for about 15minutes due to technical difficulties and when the site came back up I tried to use the $400 coupon and it said it is expired and exceeded the redeem limit. The coupon WORKED before the site crashed. I called dell and they said they can't do anything about it.

Total bs. I was one click away from buying and their site ****s up and I take the hit. I guess I'll get a HP,Tosiba, Sony, etc.

Boo-hoo.. They have those coupons all the time..

Good luck finding better warranties and coverage anywhere else in the industry.

What's so special about their warranties and "coverage"?

The fact they cover everything that can happen to a computer besides acts of god, says enough for itself.

They'll replace and repair pretty much everything, a good example is I dropped my laptop while ago, I was using it and walking, and it fell right on the corner of the LCD cracked like hell. And to add insult to injury, in the process of it dropping it, I kicked it because I walk walking. I only had a standard return to depot warranty on top of that.

Dell sent me a shiny new LG screen and lid a few days later, no charge. Tell me how many companies do that?

Every other company I deal with rather laughs in my face or bluntly tells me to go screw myself. And for that exact reason I will repeat to invest in Dell systems if the maintain that great coverage.

Hope that explains why I believe they have amazing warranties and coverage.

My old iBook had a defect (mobo issue) and Apple said it wasn't there problem. Exactly why I hate Apple.

If you want to save big money on a good Dell, you can buy some pretty nice configs, shipped to your door within 3 days, from various eBay merchants, for prices that are less than what you'd probably pay on the Dell.com website with the $500 coupon.

Bottom line: Dell.com is a ripoff, but the Latitude line, once you actually manage to buy one, is excellent, and their tech support and h/w support is awesome.

Depending on your needs, all of their lines are appropriate for the target audience. Obviously the Latitude line is going to be the company's flagship line as it's targeted at business customers who need a durable laptop.

I've been using an XPS m1210 for the last year as my work laptop, and it's holding up just as well.

Dell manufacturers good laptops (when they have the proper parts) ;)

I'm waiting for the right deal from them. $400 off a Latitude configured for a minimum of $1699 seems high. They've had other deals. I figure it's just a matter of time. I can be patient unless Lenovo comes out with a better deal in the meantime.
