Yeah, kitting is when they put your parts in a bin, before they go get built.

Maybe Dell updated their system. Instead of putting people in build when all parts are not availabe, they stay in kitting?

I got a delay notice earlier today...
I can only assume it's the battery (which has progressed to a 12 day delay)...
And dell put me in kitting cause they're finally ready to admit that they never had it...

Hey...what's weird is when I heard it i kinda smiled...
Just from hearing something other than "BUILD" lol...

Dell must put priority on rebuilds. That is the only way my new system went from order, to boxing, in two days.

Unless they had one built already? Who knows.

Yea I am still a dissatisfied customer and will continue to be unless this order comes in by the end of the week (which I doubt) or it progresses to boxing and testing rapidly...

I agree they just put us in kitting to confirm the parts arent available what a *****

Did you call to complain yet? Did you get free next day shipping? If not, call. Demand some compensation, too.

It can be done via email, but calling is probably the quickest.

When I emailed the guy who handled my sale telling him not to bother calling since I'm not changing my order I asked if it would be possible...

If he says no I'll call customer service, but they are so much more difficult to deal with :/

Maybe they'll ship it out at the end of june, then you get it early july, then you ask for a replacement after 20 days, then you ask for replacement during 21 day return period, and then by that time they come out with the new inspiron and you request a replacement for your replacement and by then the XPS M1530 will be out of stock since the new models replace it forcing Dell to give you a replacement with the new redesign or montevina. XD

Mine went from kitting to testing to build to testing to boxing in about a 24 hr period. At least you can hear the "voice" say something other than the "build" stage.

Build still, I would have been happy to go back to kitting :(

    /sigh

Edit: Yes, it appears to be the battery that is delaying everything... if I ordered with a 9-cell, it'd be here by 6-14, but if I ordered with a 6-cell it would be here 7-1/4
