Well I got my Dell XPS600 today and I am quite disappointed. I bought a system from the outlet and got a P4 3.2ghz, 1gig of ram, 160gig hd and a GeForce 6800 video card. My 3dMark score is only 3970 I get a 6600+ from my XPS m170. Must be the GeForce 6800 card they use. I think I should just stick with my first instinct and forgo the desktop all together and just enjoy my XPS m170 laptop.

Oh well I just wanted to rant a little. If anyone else has experience with the XPS600 please give me your comments.

    Thanks,

    Dante

Wow, why did you buy a desktop with lower specs than your lappy?? Why not just get an external monitor and use your m170 as a desktop?? I say return it...

Return that while you are still in return policy time period. As sublime said, stick an external monitor on that, maybe even a mouse and keyboard if you want to go all out, you won't notice a difference. Laptop will be sitting their like it is a CPU. Unless using it soo often isn't good for laptop, i'm not sure.

Yeah I think I will be shipping it back, I bought it because I got good deal $1050 delivered from the Dell Outlet and thought it would be nice to have a new desktop to go with my laptop.

I have a descent desktop already:
    AMD2700+
    1gig ram
    2 x 7200rpm 60gig hd's
    GeForce 6800GT video

Anyone have any experience with the Dell 26" LCD HDTV? That might make a nice addition as I can use it with my XBOX360 later this month.

    Again thanks for your comments.

Go ahead say it.. :) LOL :)

Yes that is a pathetic score. I was as if I had a defunked FX card in the system.

The system seems fast (boots quick, opens programs fast), unfortunately I could not test it with F.E.A.R. because I got the dreaded whitescreen upon trying to load it.

Looks like I will be calling Dell for a pick-up soon.

OK O called and got the RMA for the XPS600 today.
I think I will stick with my XPS m170 as my main gaming rig from now on.

Time to buy a docking station 20" or 24" widescreen monitor and a couple of external hard drives (1 portable and one desktop) for storage. Any suggestions?

3dmark05 is a test utility that most in the industry seem to use as a standard for benchmarking.

When is that XBox 360 supposed to be released in North America? And PS3, and whatever Ninendo is also trying to keep up.

Ya LCD is nice. Personally, wouldn't go with Dell. They are not known for TV's. They are known for computers/notebooks. Want a good TV, especially expensive LCD type, go to BestBuy, or for that matter, FutureShop. Do research, find out what is top market. I don't even know off the top of my head what is good right now. I have a Samsung Flat Screen tv 24" right now. Perfect for gaming and movies IMO.
