    Hi there,

for about three days or so, I have been noticing that my Latitude D620 occasionally makes strange noises. This usually happens when both CPUs are under full load. Before the fan switches to its highest level, one can hear a weird sound ("bbbbbrrrrrhhh") for 2-3 seconds.

My question: is this something to worry about and if yes, how to fix it?

    Thanks in advance,

    jasper

Most likely something inside has been mounted long
The motor might be skipping, which could shred the drive system
yes, its something to worry about, I personally dont know how long it will take to give out, but im thinking it will
contact dell and ask them if someone else has had this problem, and if they have any probable fixes to it

from the sound you're describing, it sounds like a bad bearing which is what eykal meant by motor skipping. But before you do that, this is what I'd do: clean the fan and heatsink of all dust, you'd be VERY surprised how clogged it gets. I have a few months old M4300 (D830) and when I opened it to inspect other things I was shocked to see a layer of dust that looked like a lint sheet blocking the heatsink/fan. So open your keyboard first (see support.dell.com documents if you don't know how to open up your computer), and clean out the dust from the heatsink and fan. Then if it continues to make the noise, see about using the business warranty to replace the fan/motor assembly on your D620. Good luck and report back your findings to contribute to other owners.
