Hello - I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this very strange Dell Inspiron 6000 problem I'm experiencing. I've read about other people having Dell keyboard problems and something has been faulty or needed to be cleaned out, but this appears to be different.

When my laptop boots up, I'd say for 30-45 minutes, half the keys do not work. Its almost like it has to warm up until it works, and it works fine after that. Its extremely frustrating. Before suggesting replacing something, is there anything else I can try? Very strange. Thank you.

This sounds like a connector or cold short issue. I would check your keyboard to motherboard connector (usually a ribbon cable)

Other than that it could be a cold short in the keyboard and keyboards are not a candidate for a bake fix. So if it is not a connector you will need to call Dell or replace the keyboard.

    Just my $.02.

    Good luck!

I noticed your inspiron model few people I work with experienced the same kind of problem. Have you try running the dell diagnostics? Try to run it a couple times. I think you push F12 or something right at boot (when you see dell logo) run it a few times. If I remember correctly the problems my clients were having are memory being defected.

Call the sales dept. (not customer service). If your laptop hasn't been built yet they might be able to cancel the order and place a new one.
