My dad has an Inspiron 1520, he has the latest drivers, and it doesnt get any hotter than usual. But he doesnt ply COD4 either. Make sure your fans are running, ive never heard of Drivers making it run hotter

also, make sure the fan intake isnt blocked. make sure its sitting on a flat surface, where there is open air under the the intake. Also, you might want to check for dust build up in the fan. Depending on the notebook, you may have to take it apart to get at the inside of the fan. My last notbook had a huge, huge chunk of dust in the fan, and it really reduced the cooling efficiency.

oh. right the one thing that i forgot to add is that it overheats when its not proped up. meaning its on my desk and its on it normally nothing sould be blocking the vent.

When it overheats it generaly stops the screen (looks like it froze) the music loops those few bytes that its playing and it does that for about a minuit till it turns black and after a little bit it turns back on and runs fine.

I would suggest anyone gaming on their laptop to at least raise it slightly with a book or something to allow better ventilation..

I just picked these up today.

Seems like a nice solution to everyone's overheating laptop problems.

Sure beats using a cdcase or book (which in itself can obstruct airway travel).

How do you know it's an overheating problem and not just driver problems with specific game(s) like COD4?

Why not download and install RivaTuner and then monitor the temps while playing your "killer" game...
