Ok all, I have an odd question to ask you guys.

Today's I just recently chat with a repersentative online about replacements rubber feets. I was done like 10 mins. Dell is going to send me replacements rubber feets with 3-4 days with no charges, since my notebook is still under their warrenty. So I guess my question is what else can Dell give you stuffs for free, w/o having to send the computer back to Dell?

    TIA.

    JC

Not much. They will send you OS cds. Rubber feet and crap like that but for the bigger ticket stuff you must return the defective part or be charged.

Screws, rubber feet, rubber caps for monitor screws, memory / wifi door for underneath laptop, keyboard, top control panel, and thats about it. anything else they usually want the item back like power cords and batteries. any other item that is a high ticket price has to be returned if they don't send a technician out with it.

Don't try to get smart and order free parts because they watch how often you contact them per the service tag. Too much playing around can get you in big trouble.

yeah they will do that provided there is actually a problem with it and he'd have to send it back to get the part replaced.

so basically they send small stuff out to you for free and for bigger stuff, if your computer is under warranty, you send it back to them and they give you the part free, and for big stuff when your not under warranty you have to pay for the part?

I am still waiting.. They had it back in to repair, despite me having an onsite warranty... THey repaired it, which took 2 weeks somehow, and then took a full week to finally admit they had lost it.. Every time I ring i get told tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow.. Currently Im waiting for someone to ring me back to discuss the specs of the replacement machine, I should be getting one according to the tech support guys.. However its going to be between 5 and 6 weeks without the machine by the time I do..

well I hope you get it replaced as soon as possible. You should complain to customer care in my opinion. Just talk to them so that maybe they will expedite the shipping and give you a coupon. Then you will not have to be with out you notebook for as long

Heh, I like my Dell , support. I had a bad Sony drive that they put in my Dell E1505. Knowing Sony, the only thing in my Dell that broke were Sony products(my battery and my dvd drive).

They sent me a new Dvd drive in, and it came in 2 days. I was happy.
