I have finished updating the drivers and utilities. Install them in the order specified to avoid any conflicts. Once all drivers and utilities are installed, allow Windows Update to update them to their latest revisions.

I looked at all M1330 Drivers and Utilities threads before starting one. Most of them haven't bothered updating their post (you have to go through the entire thread) or have just copied links from Dell website. Some have just provided links to the latest driver without verifying if it causes any conflicts.

When Synaptics has a better driver & utility than Dell, why post Dell driver & utility or worse post both and make you wonder which one to download?

I would replace the current video driver in the list with 156.66, which I can guarantee is perfect in function and performs better than 156.55. I had digital vibrance issues with 156.69-156.87.
I think it's a good idea to also add in drivers for those looking to game on their m1330. 169.04 or 169.28 are great, stable drivers for gaming.

I have provided links from genuine sources and avoided modified sources. You can actually skip installing the nVidia video driver as Windows Update will anyways update it to the latest revision.

Thanks for your insight and contribution!

You listed drivers for the intel turbomemory. I didn't even know the 1330 had turbomemory installed. Can you ellaborate?

No. If you format C: drive and install Vista, nothing else will be affected. I have not played around with recovery partition. I deleted the entire drive and created two equal partitons, one for the OS and the other for the data. That way, anytime, I can format the OS partition without worrying about my data.

You can also create your own DVD recovery discs, once you have installed the OS, drivers, utilities and your favorite applications. That way, in case of a reinstall, it is just a matter of running the recovery discs.

How will it function? I deleted all partitions in the hard drive to create two primary partitions C: and D:, one for the softwares and the other for the data. MediaDirect button has no function.

The m1330 does not come with turbomemory by default. The driver is for if you have purchased and installed a turbomemory module.

Is there a driver for the display? My device manager shows an alert next to it (Generic PnP Monitor).

Also the Ethernet Controller. - PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1713. Is this the Broadcom Driver? It wasn't ticked in the Dell Drivers & Utilities CD thingy

No. There is no separate driver for the display.

Yes. Your ethernet controller is Broadcom Netlink(TM) Fast Ethernet and the driver for the same is R155246.

Hey guys I'm having issues getting my microphone and speakers to work.. The jacks work for headphones.. it probably does for the mic also haven't tried it though. I dont think it even recognizes them being in the laptop.

I just reformated it, when I try installing the Audio driver that was listed here an error occurs... asks me to reboot.. I do.. retry.. still doesn't work.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks :p

I am unable to understand your real issue. Would you please clarify so that I can help you resolve your problem?

The drivers and utilities provided here are for Microsoft Windows Vista 32 Bit OS and most of them do not work on Microsoft Windows Vista 64 bit or Microsoft Windows XP 32 Bit or 64 Bit OSs. Further, they are to be installed in the provided order to avoid any potential conflicts.

After installing the OS, install the provided drivers and utilities and then connect to the internet for Windows Update to update the drivers and utilities to their latest revisions.

The laptop isn't able to recognize the speakers/microphone. If I open onenote it will say no microphone is connected. I checked the control panel, and it only shows you the sound for the jacks, and mic jack working.

Maybe that was my problem, using the Dell CD provided I just randomly installed a bunch of drivers... LOL, i've reformated before, but have never had to do this driver installation thing... So what would u recommend from here? Some how removing the previous installations then installing all the ones here,... in the correct order like you said??

Oh, and I have Vista 32 BIT - so these drivers should work :p

Thanks so far for your help :p

Sorry for a late reply. I was busy assisting others.

Hmm! Dell discs have outdated drivers and can cause problems . You seem to have experienced a weird issue.

Although, there are softwares to remove drivers and clean registry, I feel it is worth reinstalling from the scratch.

After you install the OS and get to the desktop, reboot twice. Disconnect from the Internet (by physically disconnecting the wired/wireless connection) and start installing the drivers and utilities (in the order specified on the first post of this thread). After every installation (be it a driver or utility), always reboot twice even if the software does not require it. Do not configure any of the drivers or utilities after installation but continue to install the next driver/utility. When you are done installing all the drivers and utilities, connect to the Internet and allow Windows Update to update your OS, drivers and utilities. After completing all the updates, reboot twice and then start configuring your drivers/utilities. After you have configured the OS, drivers and utilities to your liking, start installing your applications. After installing each application, reboot twice and then configure it to your liking before moving on to the next.

Remember, OS, drivers and utilities (even applications) should be installed and configured in one go. This results in best performance with no conflicts.
