I AM HAPPY, but MAD.
I just called the dell order line.
"This order is in production and is currently in the KITTING STAGE"
It went from BUILD back to KIT (which it skipped btw).
So why am I happy?
Here is why, from my understand my LCD was backordered. If one or more parts are backordered then dell does not proceed to kit your order. From my understanding, they wait for all parts to be available, and then proceed with the order...
Which must mean that all the parts are finally in for my laptop (HOPEFULLY). If this is actually the case then I may be seeing my laptop within a couple of days...
Sigh.![]()

Okay it just went to build. WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON?!?!?!
-
-
Maybe because it just says it's in build pretty much as soon as you order it. Then when it goes into the real production, it starts with kitting, then goes into build. So maybe they really are building it now.

-
i dunno. he did get a black one which seems to make it quicker. if it is actually being built, it should be in boxing tomorrow
-
9 Days is a long time for a Jet Black.
-
You shouldn't be complaining some of us ordered in June
-
Yeah. 9 days? C'mon! There are peeps around here who have waited over 30 days, and are still waiting. TheDan666 is up to 34 days for his Inspiron 1520 and it is still in the build stage. -
Guess I'm not alone in this.
Order date: 7/5/07
Original ship date: 7/23/07
Next: 7/30/07
Next: 8/6/07
Now: 8/28/07
This is ridiculous. -
How about 6/28/07
ETA 8/28/07 -
blondeambitions,
Do you have your computer's specs?
Dell should be able to get a computer out in 9 days (if not sooner). It is absolutely pathetic that they do not have the materials to make these computers. They don't have reliable communication to those who deal with the customers. If Dell is going to start a new line, they should be able to handle the demand. They should also know how to paint the damn things!
I am not confident that the Dell Execs know what is going on. In every press release that I read, they keep addressing the XPS delays. XPS is a great system, but the Inspirons are geared more for the everyday user.
If I do not get my Dell by 9/1, then I am going to cancel and order a jet black computer. If I don't get the jet black in a week (just like everyone else who ordered black, then I am going to buy HP). Regardless, I plan to write a long and detailed letter to the Dell CEO (not some flip flop wearing Indian) about the faults in their system and a demand for a decent amount of compensation (if I am still with Dell).
This ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! -
I wouldn't cancel matt. Just order the Jet Black, and cancel the other only when the black goes into the boxing stage.

Dont hate. -
But its just natural for those who have suffered more to roll our eyes. Heh. -
I am in the process of configuring a laptop right now, but they don't have the BT option on there anymore!
-
Nine days? Heh!
I ordered on 6/27, am still in pre-production, and there's people who have been waiting longer (by a day) than me! -

Im sorry but my laptop is in TESTING now.

I have read in other threads about people receiving discounts and accessories due to the delays. I asked for this and best I could muster was free next-day shipping. Anyone know why certain people are receiving large discounts and others aren't?

I've gotten mixed responses from two different customer service people. The first I called 8/2/2007 to make sure my order would ship FINALLY on August 6th...if not, I would have to change my shipping address. He assured me it would ship on 8/6 and not to worry. I asked, just for kicks, what the reason for the continued delay was. He told me it was the LCD screen.
Well, yesterday, 8/6/2007, I called again after seeing my ship date was now 8/28/2007. Not only was I frustrated at not having it this time, but I now had to change my shipping address. This time, he told me the color AND graphics card were responsible for the delay.
Has anyone received a definitive, consistent reason for this utter lack of service? -

I got home to find a Dell Customer Service Satisfaction Survey in my e-mail. I filled up their comment boxes and voted every item very important and my satisfaction rating extremely unsatisfied!!

It has been brought to my attention that several people like us have resorted to a more public means to get something done about this issue. I myself have sent a complaint to these two news programs to do a special about this injustice by Dell. You should too. Maybe something will result from it instead of more empty promises.

Apparently, that Dateline address I was given does not work. This one, however, does:

Sorry about that. -

Well, Dell can't even make up its mind for my 1721... every time I check the website the original ship date changes to the original delivery date and back and forth... it's very confusing. Sigh.
Oh My God My Freaking Laptop
