I hate that boxing stage. Why can't they just name it for what it is? MALAYSIAN SHIPPING.
-
Because dell does not want thier customers to know they are using the outsourcing solution to build thier "quality" computers. Its all about the business marketing strategies.
-
ordered it Monday and it's still in testing phase...
-
That means it is flying over the Pacific Ocean right now.
-
Metamorphical Good computer user
I remember mine took forever in Boxing to, when I bought it back in November.
-
Hmmm...thats odd, under shipping of rmy order it says Next day...I didn't pay for that.
-
Mine was shipped about 2 hours ago. Ordered late Sunday night/early Monday morning. Boxing, like others have indicated, took EXACTLY 72 hours.
-
mines still in boxing as well... ordered it late tuesday (25th) night. im confused because it says its expected delivery is may 11th.... thats in about 2 weeks from now. i dont think anything takes 2 weeks to ship, unless it gets lost somewhere.
-
It won't. They overestimate shipping so you feel good about them giving you a faster shipping.
-
Yeah, I got overnight on mine... they use that to compensate for the fact they have to send it overseas... I don't care, doesn't bother me, a week and a half for a custom laptop doesn't make me unhappy
-
Stupid weekend, I could have gotten mine today if it's not for the stupid weekend. STUPID WEEKEND.
-
Yes, I also hate the weekend. (For shipping anyway) Mine shipped today, and with next day, i COULD have it tomorrow, but nope, now it will be Monday.
-
Same...my M1710 arrived in Phoenix Friday Night. Too bad UPS isn't open on Saturdays else I'da picked it up. Now I impatiently wait till Monday...bah...
-
A fellow Arizonan...where are you located? Chandler? Tempe?
-
The worse part is when you make it through testing phase on friday, then still have to wait 3 business days for it to go into boxing over the weekend. You spend all weekend constantly checking your status to see if maybe someone decided to come in and work on your system over the weekend because they wanted to get some extra hours in. Doesn't happen, Monday comes and your still watching that status screen, Tuesday same thing, Wednesday you finally in the amount of time it takes you to refresh your web browser go immediately into boxing and shipping completed says its in route you'll get your UPS tracking number in 48-72 hours.
And everytime, even though I ordered Ground 3-5 day shipping, and thats how according to the label Dell ships it, I always have gotten my orders from Dell the very next morning after they ship. My package actualy arrives in the local UPS terminal that same day coming from Texas to Nevada. Usualy mis the first delivery attempt because your not expecting it that soon and no one is there to sign for it. Past two times my actual package has been shipped to me faster than I've gotten the tracking number to turn up. -
I woke up this morning, and found my order status changed to shipping. It says it's in Transit (no tracking) But I was still hoping it would come today, but no dice...oh well, monday it is.
-
Your closer to them than me, Monday for sure, if not, then it'll be clear UPS just likes me better than you.
-
I'm in North Phoenix near Glendale. I bet I get mine first...rawr
I already got my network setup for wireless and a DVI cable coming Wednesday to stream that 7900GTX onto the big screen.

I did find the kitting, testing, boxing stuff to be a wad of junk when I got the huge 'Made in Malaysia' stickers on teh box.
I will say though, Dell was really fast. I ordered it last Saturday and got it yesterday (6 days total from purchase) so not that bad.
Oh, Boxing Phase, why must you mock me?
