Topic title + how much hotter does the DDR3 run.
And how much better is the DDR3?
-
Not much of a difference in heat, GDDR3 is DDR2 at lower voltage than can support higher frequencies.
It's siginificantly better at a resolution higher than 1280x800 -
Anything qualitative? Just wondering.
-
gDDR3 can actually run cooler compared to GDDR2 version due to better memory design. It depends on the notebook's cooling design to ensure lower temperatures.
To give you a rough estimate, Asus G1s which is based on GDDR3 version of the card averages 70C on average gaming use and can increase as high as 80C. -
Well, according to wikipedia :
-
3D Mark 2006 Scores:
Asus G2S-A1 ( T7500, 8600M GT 256MB DDR3) :3814
Dell Inspiron .1520 (T7300,8600M GT DDR2) :2905
Roughly a 25% performance gap between the two. -
it has higher clocks
Okay. Final Answer. XPS 1530 8600mGT = DDR2/DDR3 + effects of DDR3
