I recently sold my E1705, and purchased an XPS 1710 loaded.

I remember coming to this site and seeing a thread, well documented and laid out nicely detailing the possible upgrades for E17xx laptops from Dell.

I've tried searching, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Is it possible this thread was simply too old and removed from the DB?

Does anyone else recall this thread?

    Thanks for any help.

List what you have, and list what you want to upgrade to, and we'll tell you yes or no.

    XPS M1710
    T7600G, 2GB ram, 7950GTX, 160GB 7.2 Sata, 9Cell, WUXGA LCD (LG), 9 Cell, 130w adapter.

Pretty much, I don't think this chipset will utilize a max of 4GB of ram and i'd be limited to 3.25GB even with /PAE. I also want to know if I could upgrade my DVD+/-RW to a BluRay one but I can't find a dell p/n for one.
And Drive wise, could I use a Sata2 drive in this system? If so, would something like this work well.

Is there a 320GB drive that I could possibly use?
