Ok so I bought the vostro 1000 starting at $499, I made some changes now its at $729 which is fine (so I thought) and ordered it. I come back home checked the $599 set up for the vostro 1000 and found w/ the same upgrades and price I get a extra 40 gbs! Curse. Well wth do I do now?

I also paid in cheque (personal money order) and gave it to the dell guy at the direct store, looks at it for a min and says "great everything is fine". I got 2 e-mails from dell. One is "Dell order has been acknowledged" and the other is my "Order Number." Well I go check my order number and the dates were Order Date: 8/27/07 Production Date: 9/10/2007

Is everything fine did they cash it already and why is production date so far off?

Give Dell a call, and tell them you wish to change the order. I did this after I ordered an Inspiron 1420, and later decided I wanted a 1520. They will probably have to cancel the order, and create a new one, but it should be fine. I had no trouble with this.
