I've had my Vostro for a few days and am generally pretty happy with it. However, I have had one bluescreen (while innocuously browsing the internet in vista) and occassionaly the system emits a beep (accompanied by some mechanical noise, it seems). This has only ever happened while I have it on my lap. It's happened once a couple of days ago and twice in the past couple of hours... (still haven't got myself an office chair in my new house).

The system has not really been put under high load at all yet. All of this occurred with a few applications open and not doing much. I guess I'll install 3dmark and see how it copes with that.

I guess I'll need to contact support. Has anyone else experienced anything similar or does anyone have any thoughts as to the implications of it? I haven't updated any drivers or anything; I suppose there's a remote chance that could help.

FWIW, I ran 3dmark '06 (with the machine sitting on a table) and there was no bleeping or signs of distress other than low framerates at times.
