I have tried both and I cannot figure out the difference.

Thank for the advice in advance.

Was wondering that myself... on my old d420, those controlled volume up and down..... I was looking to change settings so that could control vol.

Anyone know how to do this?

On the D630 they control the screen's brightness. One is labeled Auto and the other is labeled with a picture of a keyboard. I am not sure what the differences are.

You could try checking in the owner's manual on dell.com, support section.

the right arrow is a picture of a light on top of a keyboard.

FN + Right arrow turns on the amber LEDs that light up the keyboard in the dark for the Dell ATG. The ATG line is equipped with two or three LEDs in its lid that shine down on the keyboard to make typing in the dark easier. Im guessing that Dell just took the keyboard from the ATG and put it in the d630.
