Talking about ram i got mine E1705 with 1gb 667mhz special offer, i don't know if to upgrade it to 2gb 667mhz, cus don't know even how to install it later on, so my question is, is there a diference on the framerate between 1gb and 2gb?

I've been told that with a hacked BIOS and with some light tweaking, the 7800GTX will fit in the E1705.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, nick, isn't it already to late for you to get the E1705? The 7800 Go is gone, and you can only get the X1400 now with hypermemory.

If you don't mind getting one refirbished you can get one with the 7800 Go from dell outlet. I'm looking right now and see one with:

    - Intel Core Duo - 2160
    - 80 GB EIDE Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
    - 1GB RAM
    - DVD +/-
    - 7800 Go

It's $1900. Why don't you buy from here and save some $?

Well i opened up to having another option.

I know there is going to be a new XPS coming out sometime.

So i thought, i should just wait for that. As a new XPS would be a lot more powerful than the E1705, even if its a couple $hundred more

What effect do aftermarket upgrades have on the warranty? It'd suck to get a 3 yr warranty and void it by doubling your RAM.

Adding RAM doesnt viod your warranty, the only thing that it will effect is that if the RAM isnt from dell, they wont cover it

Be prepared to fork over a lot of dough for the updated XPS M170 system - I hear they'll hit 4.5-5k with top configurations and will start at around $2500-$3000.

This is just about the config I got myself and Q4, WoW and HL2 all look like butter. I *did* overclock the 7800, but have not had any stability issues with a 6 hour WoW session so I think it will be fine.

Tell me what game your planning on and I will try to install it and let ya know.

no room in the I9400 for the 7800 GTX heatsink from what I've heard...!

I reckon you'll get a 7900 Go as an upgrade in a couple of months...
